Alabama Shakespeare Festival, a nationally acclaimed LORT theatre, introduces the ASF Fellowship Program as one of the key elements in its commitment to Education. ASF seeks a diverse company of actors, stage managers, and designers to participate in a program focused on practical, experiential training designed to facilitate the transition into a professional career in the theatre.

Production Fellows will work with their department of concentration (lighting, sound, costuming, scenic, paints, stage management) alongside seasoned professionals and have the opportunity to work on the Touring Company Productions as designers and stage managers.

The successful Sound Fellow applicant must have background experience in crewing theatrical performances and be familiar with stage and technical theatre terminology. The ability to apply and adapt previous experiences to a high-stakes and fast-paced setting is ideal. Must be computer literate and be able to lift a minimum of 30 pounds. The position requires an individual able and willing to work independently at times with minimal supervision as well as taking direction and working with others in a team oriented environment. Good communication skills, a willingness to learn, and the ability to multi-task and organize is necessary.

Duties include, but are not limited to: sound operation for shows as assigned; set-up for and preshow equipment checks; reporting problems or errors to the sound supervisor; support crew for road or building events; set-up/strike of portable audio systems for company events; audio/video recording projects as assigned; being prompt and prepared for work each day; participate in load in and strike for seasonal productions and outside events; and any additional projects from or assisting other shops.

Compensation: Each fellowship offers a weekly salary of $455. Fully furnished apartments (within walking distance of the theatre) can be made available to participants for a modest monthly fee.

Interested applicants should email a cover letter and current resume to Russell Bush, Sound Supervisor - rbush@asf.net

Interviews are held via Skype video conference. Applicants should be prepared to present and discuss resume and experience..
