$20.00 hourly per week

The Lead Carpenter is the primary builder and scene shop leader for all productions and external projects in Theater Latte Da's shop. The Lead Carpenter will work closely with the Technical Director and Carpenters to execute the designs in an excellent and timely manner through the use of carpentry, welding, rigging, and other fabricating techniques. They will work with the Technical Director to prepare for upcoming projects by conducting research, drafting, and purchasing materials.


~ Primary carpenter for all projects in the scene shop

~ Manage carpenters during construction, load-in, strike, and note sessions

~ Coordinate and manage load-in's, notes, and strikes for external projects

~ Maintain shop tools in a safe and working order.

~ Maintain shop cleanliness and organization.

~ Actively create a safe and healthy work environment.

~ Attend First Aid/ CPR safety training(s) provided by Theater Latte Da.


~ Drafting

~ Material Purchasing as needed

~ Enforce safety procedures for the scene

~ Drive 26' dock truck during build, load-in and strike

~ Attend anti-racism training as provided by Theater Latte Da

~ Attend First Aid/ CPR safety trainings provided by Theater Latte Da



~ Must have excellent carpentry and fabricating skills with various materials including wood, metal, foam, plastics and fabrics.

~ Must have a solid understanding of common theatrical practices relating to reading scenic/ build drawings, scenery construction, installation, rigging, and stage mechanics

~ Must have a solid understanding of commonly used tools and their maintenance

~ Must be able to lift 50+ pounds

~ May be required to work in extreme conditions: at heights, in confined spaces, and in adverse and cold + high temperature weather

~ Must maintain a valid drivers license and be able to pass a DOT physical

~ Must be comfortable driving a fully loaded 26 box truck

~ Ability to manage and encourage a diverse team of professionals to ensure a successful build process

~ Ability to work a varied schedule including evenings and weekends at predetermined times


~ Drafting experience, especially with AutoCAD

~ Access to a personal vehicle.
