Millikin University seeks an experienced Technical Director for the Kirkland Fine Arts Center, beginning July 1, 2021.

The Technical Director is responsible for the efficient and effective provision of all technical elements, including lighting, sound, and scenic requirements in the production of concerts, visiting artists, and campus events in KFAC and Albert Taylor Theatre, except in instances where the School of Theatre and Dance staff Technical Director is responsible for production elements for SOTAD-produced plays, musicals, operas and dance concerts. In these instances, the KFAC TD will collaborate closely with the SOTAD TD to support design, construction, and equipment needs/usage. The TD will also collaborate with technical staff for touring artists and facility rentals. Reporting directly to the Production Manager, the Technical Director will manage the inventory, usage, maintenance and repair of facilities and equipment in both venues.

Millikins primary performance venues include KFAC (2000-seat roadhouse), Albert Taylor Theatre (270-seat proscenium) and the Rogers Theatre (250-seat flexible/courtyard theatre) in the new Center for Theatre and Dance. The CFA performance and concert seasons typically include 6-7 plays/musicals/operas/dance concerts, 5-6 Millikin-Decatur Symphony Orchestra concerts, Vespers (annual choral/symphonic Christmas concert), 3 Percussion Ensemble concerts, 4 Symphonic Wind Ensemble concerts, and 5-7 additional student ensemble performances, music clinics, festivals, and recruiting events. KFAC hosts 4-5 university events (Commencement, Convocation, etc.), and contracts visiting artists and groups for the Kirkland Series (4-6 events) annually.

Minimum qualifications include a Bachelors degree (Masters preferred) in technical direction, lighting/sound/scenic/media design and production, or related field; and practical knowledge and experience with rigging, lighting, and sound engineering in an academic or professional theatrical setting
