Garden Theatre, a non-profit arts organization located in the heart of historic downtown Winter Garden, FL, seeks a full-time Director of Development to provide leadership to the organizations efforts to secure financial and other support from individuals, foundations, corporations, and government entities to sustain and expand its operations. Working closely with a collaborative Administrative and Artistic Staff and Board of Directors, the Director of Development is responsible for the planning, development, and execution of the Garden Theatres programmatic and institutional fundraising. Candidates for this front-line position must be highly comfortable interacting with donors and patrons at all levels. The ideal candidate will be a proactive, enthusiastic, and community-minded Garden Theatre advocate who thrives as part of a collaborative team.

Originally operating as a single-screen movie theatre from 1935-1963, Garden Theatre was reborn in 2008 after a complete renovation to offer audiences entertainment that inspires discovery through theatrical experiences that are innovative, impactful, and inclusive. The Garden offers a transformative experience for every artist, student, employee, partner, and audience. By creating a true artistic home that supports and elevates their vision, passion, and artistry, Garden Theatre continually sets new standards for how theatre builds a connected community.

The Director of Development is a member of the Gardens leadership team, reporting to the Managing Director and working closely with the Board of Directors and volunteers. This position leads development strategy and supervises the planning, implementation, and evaluation of all fundraising programs, including special events, to raise $500k in annual contributed income through individual, corporate, foundation, and government support.

Key responsibilities include:
- Strengthen and diversify all of Garden Theatres multiple fundraising initiatives.
- Collaborate with the Managing Director and Artistic Director to ensure a clear and accurate interpretation of the organizations vision and direction.
- Develop and implement a sustainable fundraising strategy in support of the Garden Theatres strategic plan, long-term goals, and financial model;
- Cultivate new and retain existing Garden Theatre patrons and donors.
- Oversee and direct annual giving campaigns, corporate and foundation grants, government grants, planned giving, and matching and in-kind donations;
- Analyze and improve individual giving programs, aimed at building a donor base and cultivating deeper ties with donors, including oversight of acquisition, materials, special events, and donor correspondence.
- Create or oversee the development of proposals and materials for corporate, foundation, and government grants and sponsorships, and ensure that all required reporting and donor benefits are delivered.
- Use innovative strategies and creative ideas to identify and cultivate new prospects and initiatives.
- Plan and oversee (in collaboration with the Artistic department) special events, including Gardens annual Encore Gala, year+#8208;round programming+#8208;related events, and donor receptions.
- Develop positive and effective relationships with public, private, corporate, philanthropic, and nonprofit sector partners to advance the Garden Theatres goals and build its profile as a leading producer of theatre in Central Florida;
- Works with appropriate staff to prepare monthly metrics report on the Garden Theatres development efforts and status to the Managing and Artistic Directors and Board of Directors as needed.
- Prepare, monitor and manage the annual development budget.
- Align development related communications with the organization's brand and provide ongoing evaluation of key messaging as it relates to development activity.
- Represent the organization externally in collaboration with the Artistic Director and Managing Director.
- Facilitate, engage and support the Development Committee of the Board of Directors to meet fundraising goals and secure new funding both from individual donors and corporations.
- Collaborate as part of staff leadership team on key organizational issues ranging from long-term strategy to day-to-day management and infrastructure needs.

QUALIFICATIONS AND CAPABILITIES
- Undergraduate Degree in Communications, Nonprofit Administration, Business Administration, and/or equivalent degree and or work experience
- Minimum 5+ years in nonprofit fundraising, arts administration, or closely related field;
- Excellent written, verbal and organizational skills;
Ability to fully integrate a broad range of communications/engagement initiatives, resulting in an effective, efficient and strategic work plan;
- Ability to work as part of a high-functioning team, inspire and lead through example utilizing the skills, abilities, and passions of a diverse set of stakeholders to build relationships and advance the organizations mission;
- Competence in budget development and analysis, and data-driven decision making;
- Self-directed, creative, and flexible; able to problem-solve, multi-task, and adapt to changing priorities;
- Availability and willingness to work flexible schedule, including some evenings, weekends, and travel as needed.

PREFERRED CAPABILITIES
- Background in nonprofit arts.
- Previous leadership experience.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, familiarity with website CMS and e-mail communication platforms; experience with Patron Manager or similar CRM database systems preferred.
Knowledge of and passion for live theatre and the performing arts highly desired.

COMPENSATION: Salary range is $45,000-48,000 per year depending on experience, plus benefits including health insurance and paid vacation.
