The Phoenix Theatre Company, a LOA LORT D Theatre and Arizonas largest professional regional theatre, seeks a year-round Audio Engineer- Salary + Benefits staff position.

Located in the heart of the Central Arts District close to downtown, our beautiful 14-acre campus includes three theaters, a restaurant and bar, rehearsal halls, administrative offices, and costume, scenic, prop, lighting and paint shops, all on one site.

We produce a wide range of theatre, from full-scale musicals to comedies, dramas and original new work. Some of the exciting shows this season include: Rocky Horror Picture Show, Camelot, Million Dollar Quartet Christmas, Hello Girls and Steel Magnolias.

The Phoenix Theatre Company produces shows in both a 380 seat proscenium space and a 250 seat black box space, for a jam packed versatile season. We are currently operating on our newly conceived outdoor stage and plan to return to indoor programming in May if safety allows.

The Phoenix Theatre Company developed and operates within a robust Covid safety system. This system achieved AEA + SDC approval and the theatre was the 20th institution to be granted AEA contracts. Safety systems include: weekly testing free of charge at the theatre, strict mask adherence, social distancing in shops, virtual meetings, detailed daily cleaning of spaces, PPE supplies provided, and a Covid compliance officer present monitoring, advising and enforcing safety rules and regulations.

Job Function

The Audio Engineer will be a part of a highly skilled, professional and supportive team, and will mix shows with state of the art equipment and work with Professional Designers. Design opportunities are also available.

Job duties include: Mixing large-scale Productions and hiring and/or training of any additional Mixing Engineers for all Phoenix Theatre Productions. Maintaining all sound inventories and equipment. Managing the sound budget throughout the Season and per Production. Supervising the Audio Apprentice/Journeyman. Providing support for all sound-related needs including Front of House teams, Development and Marketing events and rentals. Assisting in maintenance and execution of production-related video equipment and also facilitating sound needs for the load-in, Tech and show run of all Phoenix Theatre Productions. Necessary experience includes: Programming and mixing on digital and analog consoles, using, maintaining, and troubleshooting wireless mic systems, QLab playback software, managing projects, meeting deadlines, and strong communication and collaboration skills. Additional preferred Experience includes: Managing per-show and Seasonal budgets, maintain and troubleshooting basic video systems, and experience with Yamaha CL5, Allen + Heath GLD 80, Galileo speaker Management systems and TC electronic Reverb systems.

Minimum Qualifications
A degree in Technical Theatre or equivalent experience in professional theatre
Excellent knowledge of sound equipment and basic video
Computer skills and knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite
Basic knowledge and repair of various sound equipment
Ability to work at heights up to 25 feet in an upright lift
Organization, Time Management, and People Skills
Willingness to adhere to a higher production standard and the desire and competence to complete production
