Cortland Repertory Theatre, a professional theatre celebrating our 50th summer season is accepting resumes for a Scene Shop / Properties Internship position for our 2020 summer season. CRT is located in upstate New York, a half hour south of Syracuse, on the edge of the Fingerlakes Region.

Our 2021 summer season will run from June 28 August 22. Our tentative season includes four main stage shows, plus a childrens show. The official season will be announced once we have secured all rights.

This year, we will be providing an outdoor season to comply with COVID-19 regulations and to help prevent the spread of the pandemic. The audience will be seated under a tent and a 12x30 stage will be outside.

The scene shop/ props intern will assist the technical director and carpenter in building, installation and maintenance of all scenic elements for our season. In addition, they will assist the properties designer to acquire, build and alter all props necessary for the season.

A weekly stipend of $175 is provided. Travel expenses to Cortland are reimbursed up to $100. Housing is provided in single room/shared suite. We work 6 days a week; payday is Thursday of each week.

Responsibilities include:
- Participation in the construction and maintenance of all scenic elements of the summer season, including basic scenic painting.
- Assist Props Designer and Artisan in the construction, fabrication and acquisition of all props (furniture, set dressing, hand props, perishables, etc.) for all shows.
- Assist in the repair of above mentioned materials during run of current production;
- Participate in all load-ins and strikes.

- Basic theatrical carpentry knowledge and experience.
- Basic knowledge and interest of props construction, modification and fabrication techniques.
- Excellent personal, organizational, time management and communication skills.
- Be an energetic, motivated, supportive, hard working and cooperative team member.
- Be able to climb a ladder, and lift/ carry 50lbs
- Must have drivers license and clean driving record. Own car preferred.
- No pets.
