Full-time Assistant Technical Director position open now at ITA Audio Visual Solutions, a live event production company specializing in large scale corporate productions, hotel AV management, permanent installation, and technical repair service. We are seeking an individual who is ready to work in the expansion and further development of our Live Event Production Department.
Compensation: $20-$28/hr
Start date: as soon as possible.

Job Description:
The Assistant Technical Director reports to and assists the Technical Director to ensure all events are executed in a timely and fiscally responsible manner with consideration to artistic quality and technical feasibility. Additionally, the Assistant Technical Director will assist in managing day-to-day production department operations, as well as tracking/maintaining equipment, crews, calendars, and logistics. The Assistant Technical Director may be required to directly supervise large/complex events and installations as the head of a production team.
Essential Job Functions:
Engineering and Drafting
Develops site plans and layouts for use in design process.
In collaboration with the project team, determines the best methods and materials for achieving design objectives, efficient engineering and material types.
Participates in and supervises project drafting, working with the project team.
Orders job specific materials, supplies and sub-contractors.
Completes/Supervises any custom builds.
Production and Scheduling
Meets with appropriate internal and external stakeholders to determine a production schedule.
Ensures all milestones and project deadlines are met.
Assists the job lead in assigning shop labor and supervises team as needed.
Conducts frequent inspections of work in progress to maintain desired level of quality.
Uses overtime judiciously and appropriately in consultation with the Production Manager.
Supervises installation of technical components for live events.
Plans and supervises all rigging aspects of productions.
Executes all scenery construction and installation/strike.
Manages a crew of technicians to complete all projects flawlessly.
Client Communications
Maintains open, honest, and clear communications with clients and account representatives.
Remains attentive to the needs of the client, always following up in a timely manner.
Internal Communications
Meets with the PM regularly and provides clear, concise project status reports regarding job progress, needs, budget, and client satisfaction.
Continually communicates with the internal project team to resolve problems, obtain additional information, and ensure schedules are met.
Communicates with outside vendors and staff.
Attends cross-functional meetings as requested, for specific project needs.
Works with AHJs to ensure all necessary permits are secured and practices are followed.

Continually looks for process improvements and other efficiencies.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Prefer a Bachelors Degree in technical theater or a closely related field, or equivalent professional experience.
Proficiency with CAD drafting, especially Vectorworks.
Strong skills and experience with producing/running virtual online events.
Strong knowledge of networking topology and TCP/IP Protocols.
Strong knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
Working knowledge of Adobe Suite.
Strong skills with theatrical/temporary scenery construction methods and styles, scenic and decorative finishes.
Strong skills in carpentry, metalwork, etc.
Experience with scenic construction techniques and the ability to communicate with scenic fabricators.
Substantial knowledge of current live event technologies.
Strong rigging knowledge (certification a plus).
Experience with power distribution, electrical layouts, generators, etc.
Experience with low voltage electronics (repair ability a plus).
Excellent technical skills with a working knowledge of sound, lighting and video components and their implementation in live events.
Strong and effective communication skills.
Experience in managing crews.
Strong organizational skills.
Punctual, comfortable working with other core employees, willing to work sporadic evenings and weekends.
Strong collaboration and leadership skills.
Strong written, verbal and presentational skills.
Self-starting, interested in thinking ahead and about how systems can be improved.
Attention to detail, accuracy, and quality control while keeping the big picture in mind.
Ability to work under high pressure and meet deadlines.
Capable of managing several projects simultaneously.
Curious, proactive and self-aware.
Ability to assess risk + foresee issues.
Ability to remain calm and productive in difficult situations, demonstrating good people skills and a sense of humor.
Ability to work extended hours with the possibility to include weekends and holidays as event schedules dictate.
Ability to lift 50 lbs and handle extensive standing, walking, and step-climbing.
High level of comfort at height.
Ability to drive a car, van and ~26 truck.
Possession of a valid Drivers License, CDL not necessary.
*Some travel may be required with this position.
A thorough background check, drug screen, and physical will be required.
