Job Description

Syracuse Stage is partnering with the Syracuse City School District to provide full-time Teaching Artists in schools to supplement the K-8 curriculum with Arts Programming. Teaching Artists hold the primary responsibility for the implementation and development of Syracuse Stages curriculum in the Syracuse City School District and the success of its students. Syracuse Stage seeks teaching artists with subject-area expertise who are enthusiastic about working with children and young teens. These teachers must demonstrate a commitment to continuously improving curriculum and instruction through designing tools to provide arts enrichment. We are seeking experienced teachers for K-8 grade levels in the following subject areas:
+#9679; Acting (scene study, performance)
+#9679; Improvisation (Devising, movement, comedy)
+#9679; Dance (Modern, hip-hop, Jazz)
+#9679; Playwriting (page to stage)
+#9679; Design (Set, Costume, Props, Lighting, Sound)
+#9679; Implement curricula and activities specific to subject matter.
+#9679; Design and implement assessments that measure progress
+#9679; Use assessment data to refine curriculum and inform instructional practices;
+#9679; Participate in collaborative curriculum development and grade-level activities.
+#9679; Be encouraging of students mastery of artistic goals
+#9679; Ability to work independently, facilitate group dynamics, exercise good judgment and show initiative.
+#9679; Communicate effectively with students, schools and Syracuse Stage
+#9679; Participate in a weekly staff orientation and training.


+#9679; Proven track-record of high achievement in the classroom;
+#9679; Mastery of and enthusiasm for artistic subjects;
+#9679; Evidence of self-motivation and willingness to be a team player;
+#9679; Bachelors degree is required
+#9679; Minimum of two years teaching experience in an urban public school preferred
+#9679; Valid State Certification is helpful but not required.
+#9679; Alignment with Syracuse Stages educational philosophy.

Additional Information

Syracuse Stage offers competitive salaries commensurate with experience. Teaching Artists are equipped with a Syracuse University email and necessary supplies for their classes. Position is dependent on grant-funding.
