Organization Summary
American Heritage School is a top ranked private school located in South Florida. The Theatre Department produces 10 productions each academic year. The Fine Arts building includes a Broadway-style Proscenium theatre, a spacious Black Box theatre, and a classroom-style Studio Theatre supported by a fully equipped Scene Shop. American Heritage School offers a full range of Technical Theatre courses.

Position Objective:
The Lighting/Sound Design teacher works with the production team and students to produce lighting/sound/publicity for all theatrical productions. The position is also responsible for managing the functional and organizational elements of the lighting and sound inventory/storage. The lighting/sound/publicity designer will, as needed, advise student led designs, student electricians, and student sound crew. They will also serve as the advisor for the publicity, sound, and playwriting thespian competitions for both junior high and high school students.

Key Responsibilities:
*Design + execute lighting/sound/publicity for all upper school productions OR act as faculty advisor for student designs.
*Ensure timely production of publicity elements (vinyl banners/playbills/posters)
*Assist with after school student production hours.
*Teach lighting, sound, publicity, stage management, and playwriting classes.

Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
*Strong understanding of standard lighting and sound design conventions.
*Demonstrated knowledge of industry standard safety practices.
*Experience maintaining and repairing lighting and sound equipment.
*Experience with manual counterweight rigging systems.
*Skilled in design drawings. (Vectorworks)
*Basic knowledge + vocabulary in other design fields (sound, lighting, costume, etc)
*Strong oral communication and listening skills
*Ability to multi-task and maintain flexibility
*Experience working with children (preferred)
*Ability to work with varying student skill levels at the same time

Required Qualifications:
MFA in Theatre (Preferred)
Teaching Experience

*Salary base - $38000 (plus experience)
