Located in the heart of the Badlands near the entrance to the Theodore Roosevelt National Park, the Medora Musical is seeking theater technicians for the 2020 Season.
Start and end dates are flexible.



As a key member of the Medora Musical Team, the Theater Technician will report to the Burning Hills Amphitheatre Deck Manager. The Theater Technician is responsible for running scene changes on the Deck Managers cue. Will assist with back-stage activities to maintain set pieces, props, and equipment. They will also participate in amphitheatre retail and concession sales, cleaning and maintenance.

Essential Functions

1. Assists in maintaining, repairing, and cleaning set pieces and props as instructed.

2. Participates in the Medora Musical as an extra when needed.

3. Is ready to assist in emergency situations.

4. Upon completion of each performance, will strike scenic elements that are not weatherproof.

5. Collects trash from the front of house at the end of the show.

6. Maintains the cleanliness and appearance of the restrooms at the amphitheatre.

7. Searches the amphitheatre parking lot for trash.

8. Cleans the top and middle plaza, amphitheatre seating area, and the stage surface daily.

9. Cleans the dressing rooms used by the Burning Hills Singers and specialty acts.

10. Executes building and performance requirements at the Old Town Hall Theater as directed by supervisors.

11. Assists in stocking and maintenance of Burning Hills Amphitheatre concessions, retail, and Welcome Center.

12. Participates in weekly safety lessons.

13. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibility

There are no supervisory responsibilities with this role.

Work Environment

This job operates in an outdoor theater environment. This role routinely uses standard theater equipment. Continuously works in hot, or humid temperatures. Occasionally works in cold weather, near mechanical parts, and fumes, dust and or orders and electrical currents.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is continuously required to stand. Frequently required to walk, lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Occasionally sit, climb, balance, talk, hear, and have repetitive use of hands and/ or arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus to determine accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of work assigned, close proximity use of computer software and ability to determine safety of workplace surroundings for themselves and guests.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time seasonal position. Days and hours of work are varied based on the needs of the guests and weather.

Required Education and Experience

1. Must have an interest in theater and sound.

2. Must be willing to work as a team and work with little direct supervision.

3. Must be willing to work overtime throughout the summer.
