PORTLAND STAGE COMPANY seeks Directing/Dramaturgy interns for its 2020-2021 season. Each Directing/Dramaturgy Intern typically assists directors during rehearsals of two Mainstage productions and works with the artistic staff on daily administrative activities in the Literary and Education Departments. There are usually three Directing/Dramaturgy interns each season. Interns assist with Portland Stage’s annual play festivals: From Away and Little Festival of the Unexpected. Dramaturgical duties include researching, writing, editing, and laying-out resource guides, reading and evaluating scripts, and assisting with post-play discussions. All interns will be on two, if not more, run crew assignments and will spend time in other departments to expand their knowledge in all areas of theater. Internship runs from late August through May. Housing and stipend are provided; even if COVID causes cancelations the housing will still be provided during normal time frame. See Internship FAQ on website for additional details. To apply, download application at www.portlandstage.org/internships and submit via email. Deadline: March 15.
