Job Dates

Regular, Part time, as needed


$15-$18/hour biweekly

Primary Responsibilities
As directed by Operations Management, Production Management, or by designated supervisors, sets up events in Samueli Theater, Judy Morr Theater, Argyros Plaza, studio spaces, rehearsal spaces, lobby areas and other facilities as needed.
Set up of tables, chairs, audience seating risers, drapery, event d+eacute;cor and other elements required for events.
Set up theatrical systems including lighting, audio, video, stage decking, drapery, seating configurations, etc.
Facilities equipment maintenance, storage and other support duties.
Technician and/or running crew on selected shows and events as assigned.
Provide direction and guidance to event crew.
Selling of show or tour merchandise.
Other related duties as assigned.

2-3 years technical theatre / event support experience.
Basic office computer skills.
Working knowledge of theatrical systems (audio, lighting, video, rigging, lifts, etc.).
Authorized to operate Center lifts and Center vehicles (requires DMV record check).
1-2 years experience with Segerstrom Center events and theatrical systems (or equivalent professional experience).
Supervision or crew leadership experience.
Essential Characteristics

Ability to take direction from a variety of personnel and work as a positive team member.
Proactive work ethic with a willingness to learn and grow. Able to work both supervised and unsupervised on selected tasks.
Demonstrates helpful and cooperative conduct to co-workers, patrons and Center staff.
Willing to work efficiently and safely in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
Flexible availability able to accommodate varying production and events needs.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to do a range of physical activities, including walking, running, pushing, and pulling; demonstrate manual dexterity while using hands to finger, handle or feel, including use of keyboard. Employee must also talk and hear. Employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl. Employee may be required to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Employee may be required to climb a ladder. Clear vision is required by this job including close and at a distance, as well as the ability to see color.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet, the desk area well lit and room temperature controlled while in the office. When in event spaces, the noise levels can be very loud, work areas are subject to low and high intensity lighting levels, and varying degrees of temperature.
The offer of employment is contingent upon satisfactory completion and outcomes of a criminal background screening. A DMV check may also apply for driving Center vehicles.
