The Audio Engineer/Technician provides audio support to Arts Center season performances. The Audio Engineer/Technician also provides engineering support to School of Music academic concerts in the Glazer Music Performance Center; technical system support to the Theatre and Dance department performances, and engineering support to the many outside rental events that the Arts Center hosts.

The Audio Engineer/Technician oversees the distribution of audio equipment among several venues, procures all outside equipment; and is responsible for the inventory and maintenance of all audio equipment.

The Audio Engineer/Technician works with students and mentors them in training sessions and one-on-one during Arts Center crew calls. Our team is small, training and mentoring students to grow into independent audio engineer themselves is critical to our success as a team.

The Audio Engineer/Technician is a team player that works outside the lines of the traditional audio engineer role. The Audio Engineer/Technician will be required to run a lighting focus, lead the hanging of the house rep plot, or work in the role of assistant production manager in the office arranging crew calls, booking staff, and recruiting new employees, etc. just to list a few examples.

The Audio Engineer/Technician must have experience working with actors, classical musicians, local and tour bands of popular genres, composers, instrumentalists, and vocalists.

Serve as Audio Engineer for performances, rehearsals, and events within the Arts Centers performance spaces. The role of Audio Engineer includes: advancing audio and backline needs prior to performance; setting up, operating, and live mixing all sound equipment for performance or event; recoding or documenting performance as needed; and assisting in the return of any rental equipment after event.
Work outside the area of audio: construct, assemble, and work collaboratively with lighting equipment; rigging assignments; maintenance and carpentry assignments as a collective member of the team that further the Arts Center goals.
Train students and community members in theater audio, lighting, stage, and carpentry operations.
Optimize the use of, distribution, tracking, and maintenance of audio and video equipment within all Arts Center spaces.
Serve as a leader within the crew environment, bringing innovative ideas and actions that reflect the core principles of productive, proactive, passionate, positive and polite.
Perform duties of an Assistant Production Manager
Work collaboratively with faculty and staff of the academic performing arts departments to support successful academic productions and concerts.
