AMDA College of the Performing Arts, with campuses in New York City and Hollywood, is one of the foremost post-secondary performing arts colleges in the country. AMDA offers Bachelor of Fine Arts degree programs in Acting, Musical Theatre, Dance Theatre and Performing Arts, as well as two-year conservatory programs.

The Artists Lab encourages and supports students in the development of their own creative voice as writers, directors, producers, choreographers, filmmakers and more. It provides students with a variety of opportunities to create, develop, enact and/or present work through unique creative processes.

The Stage Manager + Technical Theatre for the Artists' Lab (Part-Time) will assist and work directly with the Director of The Artists Lab to support the needs of the Department. This position will provide stage management, technical and administrative support within all auditions, screenings, rehearsals, workshops, techs, and performances. Duties will include, but not be limited to basic lighting, audio and video, the coordination of prop elements, and the maintenance/coordination of educational and theatrical resources and spaces. The Stage Manager + Technical Theatre for the Artists' Lab is also responsible for all administrative support and reports associated with the planning, preparation, follow-up and execution of all offerings.

Primary Responsibilities:

Stage Management support to Finding Your Voice Workshops, Caf+eacute;, Project 15 + Student Vision Projects.
Administrative support tasks and daily reporting to the Director and Senior Team.
Work with the Director to schedule, reconcile, and manage rehearsal rooms, grids, and other organization documents.
Provide hands-on support/facilitation for all equipment, props and specialty items needed for The Artists Lab.
Provide tech support, must have basic understanding of programming and running lights and sound.
Maintain Black Box Classroom Spaces. Verify classrooms and black box performance studios to ensure the spaces, classroom items, and technical requirements (lighting, sound, etc.) are in good condition and at appropriate inventory levels, submit reports to Facilities for any work orders needed and follow up to ensure completion.
Provide support by communicating with and directing large groups of students, faculty and staff at AMDA events, such as auditions, workshops, techs, performances, as needed.
Communicate with department supervisors, production staff, department coordinators, faculty, students and senior staff.
Filming and maintaining the video archive of Artists Lab content.
Facilitate/administer workshop surveys.
Basic support in creating flyers and programs for projects.
Serve as a first responder to help facilitate and enact any emergency protocols for rehearsals, productions, or classes.

BA or BFA in stage management, technical theater, arts administration, or equivalent in experience
1 3 years of previous experience in a similar position
Highly motivated and strong attention to detail and accuracy
Strong organizational skills and ability to rapidly multitask, prioritize, manage stressful situations, and handle confidential matters
Ability to work independently and prioritize work effectively within established deadlines and time frames, with the ability to quickly respond to changing needs and to balance competing responsibilities
Knowledge and understanding of the academic environment (preferred)
Strong interpersonal skills; demonstrated ability to effectively represent department and interact with all levels of staff and external contacts. Proven ability to work as an effective team member
Proven ability to organize initiatives and maintain high standards with the work being performed while maintaining awareness of trends and influences
Established ability to resolve problems and facilitate the decision-making processes. Proven ability to use sound judgment to effectively solve problems within the scope of the position
Cooperative and service-oriented attitude; must be able to work under pressure
Effective oral and written communication skills, including the ability to listen attentively to verbal and non-verbal cues that lead to a deeper understanding
Demonstrates ability to work cooperatively with others with professional, ethical, respectful, and courteous behavior when interacting with others
Experience in working in multiple areas of production (Stage Management, Lighting, Audio, Video, Props, etc.)
Experience programming ETC Ion, ETC Element, ETC Express, and ETC Expression lighting consoles
Experience programming audio + video with QLab
Experience editing film with iMovie, Final Cut Pro, and/or Adobe Premier.
Mac and PC proficient
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Excel; including development of reports and effective methodology for presenting and displaying data and high degree of comfort working with spreadsheets

Monday Friday: 6 pm 11 pm, plus additional hours during the day and weekends will be required due to screenings, tech and show schedules.
