The Glencoe Junior High Project is seeking a Scenic Designer and Crew Manager for it's 2019-2020 GHJP Play - High School Musical. The position may be separated into two positions based on candidates with stipend then adjusted accordingly. The GJHP Play is a no-cut production open to all Glencoe 6th, 7th and 8th grade middle school students. Crew will be limited to a specific number of students on a first-come/first-serve basis. In addition to the show directors and student crew, you will also be working with a parent producer and adult volunteers.

Roles and Responsibilities:
Collaborate with the GJHP production team to design and construct set for production of High School Musical, as well as props, lighting, sound and other effects
Research and purchase needed materials
Suggest and coordinate with outside vendors as needed (sound / lights, rentals, etc.)
Train, assign and manage student crew and volunteers from initial meetings thru set build, performances and strike
Maintain safe and positive learning environment
Cultivate positive/collaborative relationships with production team, school personnel, students and volunteers
Attend production meetings as needed
Available to work 2 days a week from 3:00-6:00pm (preferably Tuesdays and Sundays, days/times flexible) on location at Glencoes Central School beginning mid-November 2019 thru performances (February 27-March 1, 2020). Occasional additional evenings during the weeks leading up to performances.
Must be available to supervise student crew and volunteers during performances: (Thursday, February 27, 2020 @ 7:00pm, Friday, February 28, 2020 @ 7:00pm, Saturday, February 29, 2020 @ 3:00pm, and Sunday, March 1, 2020 @ 1:00pm)
Coordinate and oversee post-production strike and clean-up

Skill Requirements:
Working knowledge of construction and set design, lighting design, stage rigging, audio and sound reinforcement, properties, stage management/or production management, and professional standards of stage safety
Experience working in an educational setting (preferably with middle school students of varying experience and skill level)
Excellent organizational skills
Excellent leadership and team building skills
A minimum of three years experience

Stipend contingent upon credentials and experience (estimated range from $2,000 $3,000).

The Glencoe Junior High Project (GJHP) is a parent-led, non-profit organization that has sought to engage Glencoe middle school students into the community since 1973. In order to carry out our mission of fostering socially aware, civic-minded and community-oriented individuals, we offer Glencoe 5th-8th grade students, opportunities to volunteer in their community, attend social activities and events, perform on stage, as well as access to a youth drop-in center in Glencoe's Central School.
