The Stage Manager (SM) is a part-time nonexempt employee of Ballet Hispanico (BH) reporting to and assisting the Director of Production. The SM provides oversight and assistance for all BH in-theatre production activities and support the production goals of Ballet Hispanico including stagecraft, properties, scenery, and dancer management. The SM will execute evening-length productions and will be a part of the advance, load-in, strike for Ballet Hispanico theatrical productions. The SM is responsible for maintaining the production quality and standards set by the choreographers, designers, artists, and collaborators; and will assist organization in order to accomplish the goals set by Artistic leadership.

The SM will also be the critical link between all artistic aspects of a show and the backstage environment. This position is responsible for all liaisons among dancers, directors, designers, and all internal and on-site production staff. The SM must make certain that everyone and everything involved in the production, from dancers and technicians to props and lighting, is in the right place at the right time, and thus ensure the smooth running of all productions in all performance venues.

Employment is based on the work weeks of the professional company. Led by Artistic Director and CEO Eduardo Vilaro, the Ballet Hispanico Company tours from 15 to 20 weeks each year and self-presents two annual seasons in New York City. The organization also commissions two to four new works each year for the company and fully integrates the company dancers in an extended program of educational activities. The companys Artistic staff consists of the Artistic Director and CEO, Company General Manager, Rehearsal Director, Director of Production, Lighting Supervisor, and Wardrobe Supervisor. Ballet Hispanico is an AGMA signatory; the current contract extends through July 2020.

Duties and responsibilities include:
o Serves as stage manger / show caller for all Ballet Hispanico theatrical productions
o Makes all calls regarding scene changes, stage moves, lighting, and sound cues while in production
o Lead crews, operators, and other event staff.
o Exude a calm demeanor while providing leadership skills, a team-first attitude, and a strong understanding of broadcast and live event production technology.
o Prepare BH lighting and other physical goods for travel; manage such equipment on tour
o Create prop, set and costume lists, cues, call sheets and rehearsal sign-ins.
o Manage all physical properties back stage
o Create on-site schedules and collaborate on travel arrangements.
O Coordinate with Technical Director to ensure all technical deadlines are met.
o Assists with all aspects of load in load out for all Ballet Hispanico productions (and BHdos as needed)
O Assists with technical rehearsals and performances for the School
o Assist in overseeing all dancer safety protocols
o Assist in provide for dancer injuries and other performance emergencies
o Observe and oversee all dancer safety protocols
o Provide the company with all backstage information
o Work other production staff positions as assigned.
o Manage backstage environment for technical rehearsals and attend studio rehearsals prior to performance.
o Prepare and provide for dancer injuries and other performance emergencies.

Valuable Skills and Abilities
o 3 Years Stage Management
o 3 years touring experience
o Able to read music
o Familiar with Microsoft Excel and Word
o Dance history preferred
o Strong communication skills
