Pips Island is a pioneer in the childrens multi-channel media sector, striving to become the leading brand in interactive and immersive entertainment for children. We foster unique personal connections with children through live hands-on experiences and build a world of fun and exploration for children to actively play in. Our signature product is an immersive, interactive, multimedia live experience for children age 4-11 in New Yorks Times Square.

The Assistant Technical Director is a non-union position that will report directly to the Technical Director and play a pivotal role in the show operation at our flagship location. They will oversee all aspects of the technical experience under the guidance of the Technical Director, with a focus on electrics. Have a strong attention to detail, superior interpersonal skills, and outstanding institutional knowledge and best practices from your industry experience. The technical and show control systems are one of a kind and need a nonlinear troubleshooting approach and require an analytical and constantly learning mindset.

This role is also well positioned for future professional growth. As Pips expands its portfolio of locations in the US and globally, this role has the potential to create operational standards across many future attractions and shows.

Minimum 2 years as an Associate or Master Electrician on a long running or touring production, Off-Broadway or regional theater
Must have working knowledge of standard and common rigging practices as they pertain to live events in an arena or event setting
Must be able to troubleshoot simple automated effects such as line winches using proprietary show control systems (show control training provided).
Experience in theatrical and event carpentry and the ability to make safe and sustainable repairs to scenery between work calls.
Working knowledge of lighting equipment and systems commonly found in the entertainment industry.
Experience working with or installing sound and audio systems for either theatrical or architectural installations.
Knowledge of Special Effects equipment such as atmospherics, bubble machines and sfx fans
Venue policy development Participate and support the Technical Director in the creation and maintenance of the comprehensive operating documentation as it applies to the running of the show
Work all required hours as reasonably dictated by the Technical Director
Ability to supervise and schedule a team
Demonstrated attention to detail and positive team attitude
Demonstrated ability to take and follow direction
Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines
Ability to lift, push, or maneuver up to 50-70 lbs repeatedly either alone or with others
Ability to climb ladders and work in high places.
