The Department of Film, Theatre, and Creative Writing invites applications for the position of Costume Shop Manager / Lecturer I for the University of Central Arkansas (UCA) Theatre academic program and the costume shop manager for the Arkansas Shakespeare Theatre (AST), a professional summer festival.

This full-time, twelve-month, non-tenure-track position has a start date of January 2, 2020.

1) Teaching responsibilities include teaching one three-hour course per semester (fundamentals of theatrical design, makeup, costume construction, or other related course) and supervising + instructing laboratory students. Design responsibilities include designing costumes, mentoring design students, and / or coordinating with guest designers for all departmental productions.
2) The Costume Shop Manager is responsible for all aspects of the work of the costume shop. These responsibilities and duties include:
- Hiring costume staff and managing the costume shop for UCA Theatre and AST.
-Management, supervision, and instruction of all costume shop staff, including work study and laboratory students.
-Execution of costume design realization in the areas of stitching, cutting, draping, shopping, pulling, dying, altering, and fittings, along with any craftwork, hair styling, and wigs or makeup work.
-Supervising wardrobe crews.
-Management and maintenance of all costume shop resources, including budgets, supplies, materials, equipment, calendars, and schedules.
-Setting procedures for and managing costume storage, workshop production support, as well as costume rentals and loans.
-Excellence in organization and self-motivation.
-Working collaboratively and collegially with all students, faculty, and guest artists.
-Other duties as assigned.

- M.F.A. in Costume Design and Technology, or M.A. in related discipline with substantial professional experience may be considered.
- College teaching experience preferred.
