Marin Theatre Company, the North Bay's LORT D professional theater, seeks a qualified Board Operator to run lights, sound, and video for its six-show 2019-2020 season.

The Board Op is responsible for working under the supervision of the Master Electrician and Stage Manager for the following:

-Train to run lights, sound, and (if applicable) video, and assist with notes where necessary, during the preview process.

-Attend all previews and performances to operate the light board and sound/video computer.

-Run a channel check, gel check, speaker check, and projector check (if applicable) prior to each performance and make any necessary adjustments or quick repairs.

-Communicate equipment issues to Master Electrician/Production Manager.

-Assist Stage Management / Run Crew where necessary.

Position is hourly, nonexempt. Must have the ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and some holidays. Schedule comprises MTCs six mainstage productions:

Rate is $20/hr., 4 hour minimum/call, up to 40 hrs./week.

The contract starts mid-September 2019, and potentially ends with final show in mid-July, 2020. The contract is offered on a per-production basis, but we will reward satisfactory performance with contracts for ensuing shows.

Travel and housing are not included in this position the Board Operator will need to be able to travel to/from the theatre on their own.

The ideal candidate will be punctual, knowledgeable, and professional.

Minimum Qualifications:

-Minimum 3 years in the theatrical lighting field, which can include time in school, ideally studying for a degree in a field related to theatrical lighting

-Experience with ETC Eos family consoles

-Experience with QLab 3

-Ability to lift 50 pounds

-Dependable transportation to MTC and current CA drivers license

-Flexible hours

The Board Operator position can be a physically demanding position. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit, stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel or crouch. The employee will occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision, and depth perception. Must be able to communicate on headset.
