Marin Theatre Company, the North Bay's LORT D professional theater, seeks an Assistant Master Electrician (AME) for the 2019-2020 season. The AME is responsible for working under the supervision of the Master Electrician for all lighting, sound, and video operations for MTC's six show mainstage season. The AME will work with and help supervise overhire crews for load-ins and strikes, help manage the electrics and audio inventories, and perform regular equipment and systems maintenance. The AME will also assist the ME in some facilities maintenance work.

Qualified applicants will have a bachelors degree in technical production or equivalent professional experience, as well as demonstrate knowledge of electrical and audio systems and equipment for theatre. Familiarity with programming and operation of lighting consoles, most notably ETC ION, and audio systems including QLab and Allen and Heaths QU16 console are desirable.

Position is hourly, nonexempt. Must have the ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and some holidays. Primarily scheduled for LX calls around MTCs six mainstage productions:

Hang, focus and strike calls are typically 8 hour calls, with 4 hour minimums.

Tech / Preview calls are work calls around tech rehearsals and previews, for 40 hours total per production (4 hour minimum calls).

Rate is $23 - $25 an hour, DOE. Position is available starting early September 2019.

Travel and housing are not included in this position the AME will need to be able to travel to/from the theatre on their own.

Minimum Qualifications:

-Undergraduate degree in Technical Theater or similar field and/or 2 years professional experience with a focus on Audio, Electrics, and Video

-Ability to lift 50-75 lbs

-Experience using and programming digital consoles/processors (specifically ETC ION, QLab, and Allen and Heaths QU16 console)

-Dependable transportation to MTC and current CA drivers license

-Flexible hours

Successful Candidates Will Have:

-A good understanding of theatrical lighting and rigging systems and willingness to become more proficient in both.

-A proven ability to set up and operate sound systems.

-The motivation to work in a team or alone as the situation requires.

-The ability to collaborate with a variety of personality types to complete work. This includes respectfully managing coworkers expectations, and clearly communicating suggestions and needs to them.

-The ability to proactively follow instructions; this includes asking for clarification, recording details, and completing given tasks without creating hazards.

-Flexibility to complete work under tight deadlines and the ability to improvise when faced with unexpected situations or emergencies.

-Good time management skills. Must be able to assess priorities to ensure that deliverables are completed on time, within budget, achieving the desired scope, and at the required level of quality.

The AME position is a physically demanding position. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit, stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel or crouch. The employee will occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision, and depth perception.
