JOB TITLE: Lighting and A/V Supervisor

A key position at Ensemble Theatre Company, the Lighting and A/V Supervisor manages all the Lighting, Sound and Video related elements for all company productions, rentals, and events. The Lighting and A/V Supervisor position should be held by an enthusiastic individual looking to become part of a small but mighty team. The Lighting and A/V Supervisor schedules and supervises training of all over-hires for installation and operational requirements. The Lighting and A/V Supervisor requests bids and purchases materials in consultation with the Production Manager, Designers, and Director. The Lighting and A/V Supervisor optimizes all electrics department workflow, ensures facilities and equipment are in excellent operating order, and guarantees that material resources are available on a timely basis. The Lighting and A/V Supervisor works closely with multiple designers and the Production Manager to make certain that designs are realized in a timely and cost-effective basis. Flexibility and positivity are key.

Over hire electricians, Over hire Audio Engineers, Over Hire Video Engineers, Deck crews as needed during rentals.


Budgeting and Drafting:
In collaboration with Lighting, Sound, and Video Designers, as well as the Production Manager, the Lighting and A/V Super procures estimates, manages budgets, and tracks all expenditures for all electrics during builds and installations for all ETC productions and events.
Can successfully read and communicate via Vector drafting in 2 and 3D as supplied by various designers.
Coordinates with Designer and Production Manager any alterations to a design due to spacing, budgeting or other issues that may present themselves thru drafting, build, or installation process.
Provides an updated budget to the Production Manager each week.
Creates and maintains a rep plot for all electrics in The New Vic between all ETC productions.

Management and Scheduling:
Coordinates with Production Management to assure that each production is installed on time and within budget.
Collaborates closely with Production Manager and other department heads for safe, cost-efficient and timely construction, load-in, and strike of each production.
Coordinates maintenance of theatrical equipment and some theater facility equipment as required.
Ensures that all over-hire personnel are trained in the proper use and maintenance of all theatrical equipment, tools and mechanics necessary for daily use in The New Vic.
Oversees the inventory lists for all electrics departments.
Maintains all electrics show paperwork for each ETC production.

Safety and Cleanliness:
Oversee, in conjunction with the Technical Director, that all rigging of lighting, sound, and projection equipment is safe for use.
Maintains a clean and safe workspace for all personnel in The New Vic.
Schedule, in coordination with the Production Manager, all maintenance in The New Vic.

Collaborates with production and administrative staff to fulfill all institutional goals for stage productions and event requirements.
Responds in a timely manner to all e-mails and phone calls requiring technical assistance.
Participates in future planning, as requested, for future ETC events and productions.
Communicates electrics needs, concerns, and events to Production Manager.
Creates and maintains communication with all applicable designers and renters.

Other Duties:
The Lighting and A/V Super will act as the lead in all electrics areas to insure all shows meet ETC standards
Act as lead programmer, as necessary
Acts as show operator for at least one area of each production.
Assist in compiling power point presentations for Salon and Donor events.
The Lighting and A/V Super performs other duties as assigned by Production Manager

ETC equipment:
Lighting- ETC Ion and EOS software
Sound- LS9, MacOS, Fireface, Q-lab
Projection- Isadora

Working Requirements:
Must be able to lift 75+ pounds unaided and in repetition.
May be required to occasionally work in extreme conditions: at heights, in confined spaces, and in adverse and high temperature weather.
Must maintain a safe and orderly working environment.
Must maintain a valid drivers license.
Ability to collaborate with designers and directors, lead professional crews, communicate expectations and reports on progress promptly and accurately.
Minimum 3 years professional experience in stage theater production preferred.
Proficiency in Vectorworks required and a working knowledge of Sketchup is advantageous.
Bachelors degree in theatre technologies or equivalent relevant experience.
