Virginia Repertory Theatre is seeking a new Properties Master to join our full-time staff. We are a regional theatre with high production values and strong links to local institutions. Our company operates three year-round seasons at three separate performance venues, as well as a touring arm that produces a series of traveling productions that hit the road around 4 times a year. In addition, we collaborate to co-produce an adventurous season of contemporary plays with Cadence Theatre

Our expectations of this position are:
o Act as properties master for all productions in our seasons (12 15 productions annually, plus tours)
o Work with designers (both internal and external) to pull, find, or make furniture.
o Maintain and organize the properties inventory, including furniture +amp; hand props.
o Attend and Participate in Design and Production Meetings as well as first rehearsals.
o Communicate with stage management throughout the rehearsal process to ensure that rehearsal and performance needs are clear and executed.
o Perform necessary historical and visual research throughout the production process and present research at the first rehearsal presentations.
o Compile and repair any props that are needed for our tour season.
o Mentor and supervise the props Assistant and Intern throughout the season.
o Creating and updating a properties list used through the production.
Desired Qualifications
o BA or BFA in technical theatre, properties design, or equivalent work experience
o 3 to 5+ years of professional experience
o Working knowledge of Google Drive, Microsoft suite, and photo editing software
Qualities and Skills.
o Organized
o A strong artistic sense and skills
o Strong research skills
o Strong communications skills
o Basic and Finish carpentry skills
o Upholstery and soft goods skills
o Faux finish painting
o Image editing
o Ability to read and build form designer drafting.
o Fabrication skills
o Metalworking skills a plus.
