Alabama Shakespeare Festival, the States theatre, builds community by engaging, entertaining, and inspiring people with transformative theatrical performances and compelling educational and community programs.

Job Purpose:
Scenic Carpenter builds, installs, maintains, and helps change over scenic elements for the productions and programs at Alabama Shakespeare Festival as directed by supervisor.

Duties and Responsibility:
Work with and under the direction of the TD and ATD to create, install, maintain, and breakdown scenic elements.
Work independently on specific projects given drafting or instructions.
Maintain a clean working environment.

Qualification Minimum:
Strong knowledge of woodworking, metal working, and rigging.
Ability to read or interpret construction and design drawings and build to spec.
Proficiency working with power tools, including but not limited to table saw, circular saw, drills, sawsal, routers, grinders, and nail guns.
Mobility: ability to stand, bend, crawl, reach, carry, climb ladders, climb stairs, lift 75 pounds by oneself.

Working Conditions:
This position requires flexibility of schedule; a normal work week of Monday thru Friday, but there are nights, weekends, and holidays where work is necessary.
