Sweven Theatre/ Rough House Theatre Co.
Chicago, IL

Expires: 06/21/19

Job Dates

July 7-September 16, 2019

We seek a Stage Manager with possible Production Management experience for a new play. The show is a co-production between Rough House Theatre Co. and Sweven Theatre, and will play in Chicago at the Steppenwolf as part of the LookOut Series for four nights (July 25-28), and at the Chopin Theatre for 3 weeks, from August 25 September 15.

We will be rehearsing in Chicago on and off from mid-June, with some breaks along the way. Rehearsals will be mostly evenings (M-Th) and Saturdays, and will all take place in the South Loop. A specific rehearsal schedule will be provided to interested applicants.

The show is a new work, adapted from a novel, and involves puppetry and masks. It will be somewhat complex, and a lot of fun to work on. Weve been researching and developing the show for a couple years, through two residencies. This is a paid non-equity job.

Beyond our plans for this summer, we have also been invited to perform next summer at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Scotland, and are planning other tours of the piece over the coming year, so there will be other opportunities to continue working on the show, if you remain interested.

Pay will be based on experience, minimum of $800 of a Stage Manager, more depending on whether candidates are prepared to take on some production management responsibilities.
