About The Industry
Founded in 2010 by director Yuval Sharon, The Industry creates experimental productions that expand the traditional definition of opera. By merging media and through interdisciplinary collaborations, we produce works that inspire new audiences for the art form.

About Sweet Land
Sweet Land brings together two composers/librettist teamsRaven Chacon and Du Yun, Douglas Kearney and Aja Couchois Duncanto create a multiperspectival opera which explores the myths of American identity, co-directed by Cannupa Hanska Luger and Yuval Sharon. The production runs February 29 March 22, 2020, at Los Angeles State Historic Park in LAs Chinatown neighborhood.

Job Profile
The Production Director leads the production team and oversees the big picture of the entire Sweet Land production. The right candidate needs great creative problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, organizational skills, and the ability to work under pressure in a shifting environment.

Key responsibilities include but not limited to:
Management and overview of the entire production process
Hiring and managing design and production teams with Artistic Director (AD) and Executive Director (ED)
Managing personnel offers and contracts in consultation with ED and AD
Serving as a liaison between The Industry and partners on all logistical matters, including communication between artistic and technical sides, and overseeing all production onsite
Creating, organizing, disseminating production paperwork related to pre-production and the live event
Creating and managing production timelines for the entire production
Managing day-to-day production budget in consultation with ED
Organizing and attending all production meetings, production-related conference calls, auditions, rehearsals, and performances
Running the production meetings, and ensuring all departments report on their progress, and are up-to-date on the overall status of production
Proactively checking-in with each department to ensure designers have what they need, and reporting their progress to the AD and ED

Other Qualifications + Skills
Production experience with live and/or site-specific events (theatre, opera, music, tv, film)
Management of independent project-based experiences
Flexible approach for dealing with varied tasks
Ability to work well as part of local and remote teams and also on own initiative
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
Ability to think and work independently
Ability to problem solve creatively
Must possess a valid drivers license, have and continue to maintain a safe driving record; will be responsible for personal transportation

Availability: This position is on an as-needed basis, based on production schedule and events at the Los Angeles State Historic Park. We expect working hours to increase on this approximate timeline:

June: ~ 16 hours a week
July- November: ~ 24 hours a week
December: ~40 hours a week
January: ~40 hours a week or more
February: ~30 hours a week or more
March: ~ 20 hours a week
Through April 15: ~ 10 hours a week

Piano/Vocal Workshop: November 6 November 10, 2019
Rehearsals: January 28 February 27
Performances: February 28 March 22, 2020
