Under the leadership of Terrie and Bradley Bloom Artistic Director Diane Paulus and Executive Producer Diane Borger, the American Repertory Theater aims to expand the boundaries of theater and engage thousands of theatergoers at more than 300 performances and events each season. The Marketing and Communications department is responsible for maintaining and building awareness of the institutional brand as well as crafting sales strategies that result in more than $5 million in annual earned revenue.

Reporting to the Marketing and Communications Manager, the Social Media and Sales Apprentice is a core member of the team and a key stakeholder in supporting and executing the marketing and communications strategies surrounding artistic, community, and education programs.

Responsibilities include:
Generate and modify sales copy to create evolving and compelling messaging for each of A.R.T.'s sales channels and for specific marketing campaigns, including production tag lines, email marketing copy, and online press listings.
Craft and implement Google Ad search campaigns using dynamic sales copy.
Manage A.R.T.'s social media channels, including the strategy and execution of content for A.R.T.'s and OBERON's Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube channels.
Develop and execute overall advertising strategies for social media.
Provide regular analysis of current social media strategies and campaigns - both organic and paid - as well as researching new tools, technologies, and social media outlets.
Monitor and respond to patron feedback and questions on all channels, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Yelp, Google My Business, and TripAdvisor.
Create, implement, and respond to patron surveys and collate for review by leadership.
Execute sales strategies for ticket inventory, including assisting in ticket pricing and overseeing third-party sales platforms.

The Social Media and Sales Apprentice will often participate in evening and weekend marketing events, such as opening nights, press nights, receptions, and other special events and may represent the institution at community and industry events. This position supports and assists other members of the department and institution as needed.

At the end of the term, the Apprentice should have a firm grasp of social media best practices, content creation, and how to develop a strong social media strategy. In addition, the Apprentice should have a solid foundation in the use of Tessitura and other CRMs and digital platforms. They should also have gained experience with crafting sales copy for multiple mediums.


Basic Qualifications
Candidates MUST meet the following basic qualifications in order to be considered for this role:

Bachelor's degree or two years of equivalent professional experience.

Additional Qualifications
A successful candidate must have excellent written and verbal skills and experience with Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube, and a demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, be highly organized, demonstrate strong initiative, have a solid knowledge of industry practices, and be able to collaborate in a fast-paced work setting. To succeed, one should have an independent mind, sense of humor, creative ways of approaching challenging projects working with diverse interests and individuals, and a passion for the arts. Past experience working in a customer service environment, working knowledge of Tessitura, WordFly or a similar email deployment platform, familiarity with Google Analytics and Google Ads, and video creation and editing skills are a plus.
Additional Information
This is a one-year term appointment with the possibility of renewal for one additional year. Apprentices may not remain in the position longer than 2 years. Apprentices will receive on the job training and participate in various educational opportunities. This position is eligible for Harvard benefits.
