Duties + Responsibilities
Job Description:
Under the leadership of Artistic Director Diane Paulus, the A.R.T. seeks to expand the boundaries of theater by producing events that immerse audiences in transformative theatrical experiences that expand the boundaries of theater.

Reporting to the Education and Engagement Director, the Education Apprentice is a core member of the team and a key stakeholder in supporting the strategies and solutions surrounding education, community, and artistic programs. This position will assist the Education and Engagement Director in the development and administration of curriculum development, enrichment activities (both on- and off-site), school tour and workshop visits to the A.R.T., partnerships with local schools, and program assessment strategies throughout the season.

Day-to-day duties will include:
Administers A.R.T. Education and Engagement programs; includes managing partner database, serving as primary contact at the theater for local educators, managing group tours and workshops at the theater, composing bi-monthly newsletters, researching new partnerships, and occasionally traveling to schools and/or partner organizations for on-site programming and meetings.
Serves as a teaching artist for A.R.T. education programs.
Assists in the development of show-specific curriculum programs, including A.R.T. Toolkit development and distribution; includes curriculum development linking A.R.T. productions to broader educational outcomes, facilitating the creation of a magazine-style study guide for teachers and students.
Administers A.R.T. core curricular programs, including:
A.R.T. Kids Company; includes facilitating registration and enrollment for Saturday morning storytelling theater class for students age 5-10 (Fall + Spring).
Proclamation; includes processing applications and managing logistics for an 8-week devised theater intensive for high school juniors and seniors (Fall only).
Coordinates the application process for the A.R.T. internship program.
Collaborates with the Education and Engagement Director to develop new projects and partnerships as well as refine and enrich existing programs and partnerships.
Maintains a department calendar of institutional enrichment activities and events.
Creates and distributes surveys and managing program assessment and evaluation data.

Basic Qualifications
Candidates MUST meet the following basic qualifications in order to be considered for this role:

Bachelor's degree or a minimum of two years equivalent professional or volunteer experience.

Additional Qualifications
A background in theater education strongly preferred. Successful candidates will have experience working in teaching, particularly in facilitating short-term workshops, community-based learning projects, or integrating arts-based learning into traditional classroom settings. The candidate selected must also have excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as excellent customer service skills. Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, working knowledge of Tessitura, graphic design, and web design, a plus. Some nights and weekend hours expected. The candidate must also be able to think creatively, be comfortable with flexible work schedules, take initiative to develop new ideas, and be ready to work with a diverse range of constituencies of all ages. Most of all, a love for the arts and a great sense of humor is appreciated.

Additional Information
This is a one-year term appointment with the possibility of renewal for one additional year. Apprentices may not remain in the position longer than 2 years. Apprentices will receive on the job training and participate in various educational opportunities. This position is eligible for Harvard benefits.
