Properties Manager

The position is a full time, salaried, non-exempt seasonal position and is paid on a bi-weekly basis. The Properties Master receives paid vacation, sick leave, and participation in the Theatres health care plan.

The primary responsibility of the Properties Master is management of the REPs Properties department, which executes properties designs and set dressings for all REP productions. Success in the job will be defined by the ability to execute the job in a timely and efficient manner within budget constraints. The Properties Master will report directly to the Production Manager. As the Properties Master will also be working closely with Designers, success in the position will also be defined by the quality of the relationships developed there.

The Properties Master reports directly to the Production Manager who will retain final approval on departmental priorities, hiring decisions, operational procedures and will initiate periodic performance reviews.

The following are, but are not necessarily limited to, specific duties of the Properties Master:

1. Maintain and operate the Properties Shop in an orderly and safe condition.
2. Provide Props and Set Dressings as needed for all REP productions and festivals
3. Work with the Directors, Designers and Production Manager in the development and execution of Properties and Set Dressings.
4. Hire and supervise overhire personnel.
5. Provide rehearsal props as requested by Stage Management.
6. Load-in props for technical rehearsals.
7. Assume responsibility for maintenance of properties design during production runs, and coordinate properties maintenance and purchase of consumables with the Stage Manager.
8. Inform the Production Manager of material and personnel requirements for the Properties Department and provide lead direction in the acquisition of such requirements.
9. Supervise strikes and promptly return all borrowed and/or rented items.
10. Attend design, production and staff meetings as required.
11. Attend all Technical Rehearsals and Preview performances as required, and instruct running crews in the safe and proper use of props.
12. Maintain current and accurate budget records of those accounts relative to Prop Shop operations and other accounts as required by the Production Manager.
13. Keep accurate and complete time sheets and payroll logs.
14. Accurately maintain a petty cash fund and purchase logs.
15. Supervise and participate as necessary in the execution of facility improvements and maintenance of Lyceum Theatres and REP production facility.
16. Maintain an accurate equipment inventory.
17. Assume primary responsibility for the implementation and maintenance of safety programs and record keeping.
18. Coordinate and communicate with Production staff in order to facilitate efficient operations.
19. Manage properties inventory and rental of properties to outside groups.
