The Palo Alto Children's Theatre seeks an Associate Production Manager to support the needs of a year-round theatrical season, in various areas of programming, which may include:

1) Main Stage Season, a season of seven professionally realized theatrical productions, on both indoor and outdoor stages;
2) Playhouse Production Series, featuring local teen performers, presenting familiar fairy-tales for pre-k audience members;
3) Outreach Initiatives, serving Palo Alto Unified School District (PAUSD) elementary with on-site theatrical productions for grades 3 5; and
4) Summer Camp productions, for youth age 8 and up.

This roll has equal importance of working with the children during rehearsal and performances, and office managerial duties. Must be organized, proactive and work well with others both child and adult.

Work Hours and Schedule:
Up to 999 hours per fiscal year, with an average of 20 hours per week. Must be available flexible afternoons, evenings and weekends for rehearsal and performance coverage.

Palo Alto Children's Theatre exists to nurture the intellectual, artistic, and personal development of youth through multi-arts education, performing opportunities, and extraordinary theatre experiences. At the Children's Theatre, the process and product are of equal importance in creating excellent theatre for young audiences. Through multi-arts education, the Children's Theatre develops lifelong skills such as critical and creative thinking, cooperation, and aesthetic sensitivity. A theatre and an educational institution, the Children's Theatre provides classes and programming designed to provide hands-on learning experiences for youth age 3 through high school. This invaluable teaching tool develops skills and provides an excellent opportunity to develop participants' theatrical knowledge. Performing arts education opportunities include onsite classes, camps and production experiences, as well as theatrical Outreach Productions (grades 3-5) and Dance In Schools classes (grades K-2) in all twelve PAUSD Elementary Schools.

Essential Duties
- Develop and distribute the rehearsal schedules of complex a season involving multiple productions happening at the same time.
- Be the main communication point for parents of participants.
- Help to organize and manage auditions.
- Be the primary Stage Manager for one production a year (features professional performers with heavy matinee schedule) in January/February
- Help to foster a thriving community of child actors and technicians.
- Under supervision of Production Manager, provide backstage and other support during technical rehearsal process and required performances;
- Assist with rehearsals as needed, helping to prepare the spaces needed, check in and out participants and work with youth stage managers.
- Troubleshoot technical issues that may arise during the normal run of a theatrical production. (changing lamps, minor scenic repairs, etc.)
- Assist in servicing Children's Theatre events both on and off-site;
- May include oversight of crew members, including youth participants;
- May include teaching duties;
- May include minor design duties for lighting and sound.
- The APM is part of the management team of the production. His or her behavior should reflect this. The APM should set an example in punctuality and professionalism. It is important that the APM is flexible and will take initiative. Because each production is different, an APM's specific responsibilities may vary or change.

Minimum Qualifications
Sufficient education, training and/or work experience to demonstrate possession of the following knowledge, skills, and abilities, which would typically be acquired through:

- Some stage technician/manager background;
- Must be comfortable working on ladders/heights, and able to lift 50 pounds;
- Must be comfortable working with Children teaching artist experience desirable but not required.
