This is a part time position that reports directly to the Director of Patron Services and Events

This position reports directly to the Director of Patron Services and Events and is responsible for assisting with the ticketing operations as well as cash handling for all performances. The Patron and Events Specialist should be computer literate and possess exceptional customer service skills to promote Palos Verdes Performing Arts (PVPA) shows and rentals.

Box Office

Conduct in person ticket sales at the Box Office using the ticketing computer system Arts People.
Balance and account for cash receipts from sales transactions at the end of the day.
Create and distribute cash drawers before shows for concessions sales.
Assist Volunteers with POS, cash transactions and ticket scanners if necessary.
Provide front line customer service and problem solving to the ticket buying public
Organize and distribute "will-call" tickets.
Maintains accuracy, honesty, and accountability in all accounting and cash handling procedures for the Box Office and all other cash handling operations.
Answers phones, returns phone call messages promptly, processes ticket orders, greets patrons, and all other duties as assigned.
Maintains guest service as per company standards by ensuring that each patron receives outstanding customer service.
Administrative tasks for various departments as directed by Management.
Work with the Microsoft Suite, Ajera, and Arts People Softwares


Responsible for Supervising and assisting renters, vendors and staff during rental events at the Harlyne J. Norris Pavilion.
Customer Service: Supervisors have to interact with the rental client(s), vendors and, event guests. It is essential to present yourself as professional, efficient, friendly and courteous at all times.
Attention to Detail: Supervisors must observe and maintain awareness of the following: Vendor load in and out timing to coordinate the flow of deliveries, the location and parking requirements. Notate the hired security personnel arrival time and positioning throughout event. Be aware of the client and guest arrival times and general guest traffic flow in accordance with the client approved timeline. Must also have knowledge of basic catering food standard requirements, kitchen safety, etc.
Leadership: Supervisors must be leaders to direct vendors, facilitate the needs of hired event planners and event guests to ensure the overall success of the event.
Problem-Solving Skills: Dealing with potential revisions to the event set up and exhibiting excellent guest relations is part of the job. Being a diplomatic negotiator with the ability to employ a quick solution is a needed skill.
Communication Skills: Must have the ability to accurately and easily communicate PVPA policies and procedure standards to ensure vendor compliance. Must communicate with Management for direction if a major deviation from the approved event set up diagram is requested. To give guests direction as needed and speak with all persons in attendance clearly is important.
Stamina: The job requires excellent health and the ability to be on feet for long periods of time moving about the facility continuously from the time of load-in, throughout the event, to the lock up at the event end. Break times will be provided per the PVPA employee manual.
Reporting: Punctuality for the event call time is very important. Accuracy in documenting the Pre/ Post Event Check List forms to ensure the standards of the facility. When an incident occurs, establishing the details and reporting any damage or theft is essential. If an accident occurs, an accident report must be written and exact details reported.

Ability to perform assigned duties under frequent time pressures in an interruptive environment.
Ability to work varied hours/days as business dictates
Excellent computer skills - Highly proficient with MS Office products MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint
A broad variety of tasks and deadlines requires an irregular work schedule.

Job Qualifications

Experience with ticketing operations and events planning.
Commitment and ability to work on flexible shifts and days off, including weekends, and nights, ability to provide lateral service to other department with a different job characteristic if needed.
Strong written and oral communications skills
Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills
Must possess the ability to deliver and coach team to give a service level which creates an atmosphere that makes our guests want to return, giving each guest a positive, memorable entertainment experience.
Must display commitment to routinely go above and beyond in the accomplishment of position responsibilities to achieve organizational goals.
Must present an image of excitement, enthusiasm, and outgoing personality, while being able to project a professional appearance.
