TROIKA Entertainment is hiring for the Head Carpenter position on the current tour of CATS

Summary of Responsibilities:

The Head Carpenter will report directly to the CATS Production Manager. The Head Carpenter is responsible for the successful loading in, operating, and loading out of this tour; ensuring said duties are done in a safe and responsible manner.

Technical Summary:

CATS is a 5-truck show, with a 2.5hr performance time. This production loads in, in 10 hours and out in 6 hours. CATS will perform in multiweek, single week, and one-night performance scenarios. The compliment of touring crew is 13, including the Head Carpenter, and the show is running on an L-Set, IATSE Pink Contract. This production features automated scenery components along with a Fly by FOY rigging system for onstage performers.

Specific Responsibilities + Job Tasks:

Manage the overall technical integrity of this tour to successfully produce a high quality, Broadway national tour
Manage the touring crew schedules in conjunction with the show and rehearsal schedules produced by the Stage Management department
Manage the Carpentry department
Effectively advance all performances with venue contacts 4 weeks prior to load in
Maintain all touring show paperwork
o Provide updated lineset schedules to venues a minimum of 4 weeks prior to load in
o Ensure all show paperwork is updated and maintained in the online, shared folders; includes all track sheets, lineset schedules, inventories, etc.
o Communicate all advance work to the Full Touring Crew, SM team, CM team, Production Manager, + Technical Director at least 2 weeks prior to load in at every venue
o Generate PDFs of Cheat Sheets and Lineset Schedules in email advances to venues
Maintain trucking schedules and communicate said schedules to trucking company no less than 4 weeks in advance of any moves
Perform site surveys of challenging load ins as needed
Track all touring crew labor and OT, providing weekly reports to the CM and PM for payroll purposes
Schedule all work calls with venue and touring crew, upon approval from the PM
Proactively maintain scenery for both mechanics and aesthetics
Prioritize work list and delegate tasks for work calls, rehearsals, and show calls
Actively troubleshoot mechanical/automation/technical issues, ensuring to recognize any trouble before it becomes a larger problem
Work with department heads to develop and execute routine maintenance in order to maintain consistent operation of the show
Other duties as assigned

Physical and Job Experience Requirements:

A minimum of 5 years touring experience; at least 3 years touring experience as a Head Carpenter
Excellent carpentry and mechanical skills
Qualified stage rigging
Ability to stay extremely calm under pressure
Working knowledge of email, Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, etc.), Adobe products, AutoCAD
Able to work on your feet for extended periods
Exude a positive attitude and consistently approach challenges from a what is best for the show prospective
Ability to push/pull a minimum of 75 lbs
Able to jump, walk, run, crouch, crawl, climb
