Seeking a stage manager to work with The Odyssey Project, an innovative theater arts program that partners incarcerated teens with university students. The project will be supported in part by the California Arts Council and will be taking place at the Ventura Youth Correctional Facility in Camarillo, CA. This is a part-time job and the salary is $36 an hour for a maximum of $4,320 over a six-week period. The job starts on April 30th and runs through June 7th, 2019. Our rehearsals/workshops are on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2-4pm at VYCF. The performance is June 7th, 2019. The cast explores their lives through a heroic lens and charts a creative course of empowerment through art. The project is intensely collaborative and relies on the authorship of the cast. The stage manager is responsible for organizational and administrative support tasks and reporting to the project director, providing hands-on support/facilitation for all props and teaching supplies, working with the project director to schedule and manage needs for teaching artists workshops, rehearsal rooms and, performance spaces, working with the project director to provide scripts and organization documents, creating the prompt book, providing support by communicating with the cast, teaching artists and Ventura Youth Facility staff. The stage manager is also responsible for running the show and working with the project director on managing ticket requests for the performance. We're looking to fill this position immediately due to the timeline required by the facilitys administration and security. The SM along with all the teaching artists and production staff must be willing to have a background check, fingerprints, and a TB test. Experience with stage-managing and enthusiasm for working with youth is required. Its vital that the person filling this position is highly responsible, supportive, efficient and engaged.
