Description: Adirondack Theatre Festival, a professional, Equity, theatre company committed to new and contemporary works, is seeking a Technical Director for the 2019 summer season. Each summer ATF produces a nine-week season of theatre for an audience of more than 9,000 using professional artists from New York City and across the country. Our summer season includes four mainstage productions, a new play workshop, two cabarets, and a childrens dinner theatre. ATF is the only professional summer theatre in the Capital District, Saratoga and Adirondack regions of upstate New York solely committed to producing new and contemporary works.

Responsibilities include drafting of construction drawings and overseeing/executing the build for 4 Mainstage productions and 4 special events (minimal to no scenery), materials purchasing, tool maintenance, budgeting for the scenic department, and scheduling. Other responsibilities include coordination of season load-in, organize and supervise changeovers, participate in production meetings, communicating with guest designers, and general shop maintenance. The Technical Director is expected to supervise the build on a daily basis and assist in the scenic construction whenever possible. The Technical Director will supervise a Master Carpenter, Carpenter, two Carpentry Interns, and Overhire (as needed). The position reports to the Producing Artistic Director and Production Manager.

The Technical Director is part of a thirteen-person staff joined by thirteen interns. Work is done at the 294-seat Charles R. Wood Theater in Glens Falls, NY located in the Southern Adirondack/Lake George region of upstate New York.

Qualifications: Undergraduate degree in theatrical design, production and/or technology required, Masters degree preferred. Previous professional experience in technical production is desirable but not required. Must be proficient in AutoCAD, Vectorworks, or other computer aided drafting software. Must have good communication skills. The ability to work collaboratively with diverse interns, staff, guest designers, and community members is also required.

Position is full-time from May 27 August 14, 2019 with a salary of $700/wk (possibility of May 20 start date, if available). Must be available prior to start date for occasional planning and production meetings via phone. Housing provided with a private room. Valid drivers license required.
