The Hangar Theatre Company, celebrating its 47th season as one of the nation's pre-eminent summer theatres, is once again offering Design Fellowships for the next wave of early career designers looking to make that educational to professional transition. The Design Fellows will design 4 productions during the summer and serve as first or second assistants for professional designers on 2 of our Mainstage Shows. This summer we are moving our stage outdoors, producing 5 Mainstage shows (The Realness, Once, Sweeney Todd, Queens Girl in the World, and Odyssey Project), 4 children’s theatre shows (Elephant and Piggie: We are in a Play, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, Stoo’s Famous American Martian Gumbo, and The Little Mermaid), and 4 experimental shows (The Wedge). At minimum each fellow must be completing an undergrad degree in May 2020. All fellows will collaborate with their peers on the shows as well as with the early career directors selected by the Drama League of New York. Work environment is positive, challenging, and holds high artistic integrity.
