Seeking a stage manager to work with The Odyssey Project, an innovative theater arts program that partners incarcerated teens with university students. The Odyssey Project was established in 2011. With the support of a California Arts Council grant, we are taking the project to the Ventura Youth Correctional Facility in Camarillo, CA. The cast explores their lives through a heroic lens and charts a creative course of empowerment through art. This process culminates in a performance. The project is intensely collaborative and relies on the authorship of the cast. The stage manager will be expected to fulfill the essential managerial and administrative functions that are intrinsic to that title. We're looking to fill this position immediately due to the timeline required by the facilitys administration and security. The SM along with all the teaching artists and production staff must be willing to have a background check, fingerprints, and a TB test. The project starts on April 2nd and runs through June 7th, 2019. Our rehearsals/workshops are on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2-4pm at VYCF. The performance is June 7th, 2019. Experience with stage-managing and enthusiasm for working with youth is required. Its vital that the person filling this position is highly responsible, supportive, efficient and engaged.
