Properties Master

Writers Theatre seeks a Properties Master for our upcoming production of MA RAINEYS BLACK BOTTOM.

Production Dates:
Pre-production begins Wednesday, January 2nd
First rehearsal is Tuesday, January 8th
Technical rehearsals begin Thursday, January 31st
First preview is Wednesday, February 6th
Opening is Wednesday, February 13th
Closing is Sunday, March 17th
Possible Extension

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Design and build/furnish props for in conjunction with the design team
Track and maintain expenses
Aid in communication with designers and stage management
Hire and manage prop artisan overhires as necessary.
Maintain clean, safe, and organized shop and storage spaces
Strike, storage, and return of rental props after closing of production
Other duties as assigned

Qualifications
Two to three years professional props experience required
Advanced knowledge and experience with prop construction methods and techniques required
Good carpentry skills
Working knowledge of backstage best practices
Able to climb ladders and work at heights
Proficient in Microsoft Office
Proficient in Photoshop
Able to interpret draftings
Able to lift 50-70 lbs. either alone or with assistance
Valid drivers license and clean driving record
Available to work nights and weekends during tech rehearsals
Able to multitask, collaborate well, be a creative problem solver, and maintain a positive attitude in times of stress

Bonus Qualifications:
AutoCAD and/or Vectorworks beneficial
Stage firearms and weaponry experience (FOID a plus)
Welding
Basic rigging
Molding and mold-making

Compensation
Position is paid hourly at a rate of no less than $16/hour based on experience.
