The Ordway: The Ordway, recognized as one of the U.S.s leading not-for-profit performing arts centers, is home to a wide variety of performances throughout the year that encompass the finest in American musical theater, world music, dance, and vocal artists. Performances take place in the 1,900-seat Music Theater and a 1,100-seat Concert Hall. Position Purpose: The position of Associate Electrician is a full-time, non-exempt, position that shall work with the Head Electrician in the accomplishment of responsibilities pertaining to the department. This position requires the Assistant Electrician to directly interact with clients and Extra Crew members and requires a positive and supportive attitude as well as a strong work ethic both when working with the clients and Extra Crew Members. Assistant Electrician must be able to give clear work direction to Extra Crew members.
The work responsibilities, conditions of employment, and wage conditions of the Assistant are governed by a Collective Bargaining Agreement between the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees Local 13 Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minnesota and the Ordway Center for the Performing Arts. The position is also governed by all Ordway and Oasis DEG personnel policies for full time employees, where such policies do not conflict with the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Key Duties
Assist Head Electrician as the department representative and technician and de facto Lighting Designer on productions in the Concert Hall using a fixed plot. Work in other Ordway venues (Music Theatre, Lobby area, ect.) as required, providing pre production, production, post production and maintenance services.
Responsible in conjunction with the Head Electrician for maintenance, repair, handling, operating, and supervision of all systems related to OCPA Production Electrics department.
Responsible for the proper maintenance, repair, handling, and operation of production electrical equipment and electro-mechanical devices at the Ordway.
Provide technical support for clients and users of the Ordway as well as artists engaged by the Ordway, in the production and presentation of events as it pertains to the Electrics department.
Assist other production department personnel when engaged non-jurisdictionally in the set-up, operations, technical production and strike of concerts, recitals and events as necessary or directed.
Analyze and recommend improvements on department related systems for efficiency, operations effectiveness and safety.
Assist with maintaining inventory of department spare parts, tools and supplies.
Must be able to work independently.
Adhere to Standard OSHA and Theatrical Safety Practices.
Perform other related duties and responsibilities as required and/or assigned.

Required Qualifications
Must possess a working knowledge of electrical work for professional theatre, as well as a professional skill level, and trade craftsmanship associated with the ability to perform the duties and responsibilities of the electrics department.
A minimum of five years working experience as a professional theatrical electrician and programmer is preferred. Master level understanding of Theatrical and Architectural network structures, electrical principles, formulas, drawings, stage light plots and intermediate computer literacy.
Proven experience in generating Lighting Design paperwork with Vectorworkss and LightWright.
Must be familiar with and keep up to date with professional theatre practices and techniques, as well as equipment operation and maintenance. Must also have a working knowledge with all other standard theatrical equipment.
Proven ability to program ETC Eos family of consoles.
A demonstrated understanding of industry standard network protocols and the ability to interface other consoles(AVO, GrandMA, ect.) to Ordway lighting systems.
Working knowledge of wireless dimming protocols, decoders and systems.
Proven ability to program intelligent lighting systems specifically for Music Theatre production both in single and dual console structures.
Working knowledge of touring and portable theatrical lighting systems, including the specifications and operation of control consoles and auxiliary panels, system interface electronics, dimmer racks, power distribution panels, multi conductor cabling and circuitry, theatrical lighting instrumentation and hardware, and other system elements.
Membership in the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (I.A.T.S.E.) is highly desirable. Must be able and willing to become and remain a member of Union Local 13.
Must have demonstrated knowledge of video projection equipment and switcher technology.
Must have demonstrated skill as a followspot operator.
Must possess ability to work cooperatively with a variety of clients, and serve as a liaison with departments to coordinate and plan effective work schedules.
Must be able to use and understand various kinds of test equipment, tools, and meters such as volt, ohm and amp meters.
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
Minimum College degree (B.A., B.F.A., or M.F.A. preferred) or 5 years experience as an electrician working with complex theatrical, concert and architectural lighting networks.
Lighting Design experience is necessary.
ETCP certification is highly desirable.
