Home to the worlds largest Shakespeare collection, Folger Shakespeare Library is a world-class center for scholarship, learning, culture, and the arts. Folger Theatre is seeking a Light/Sound Board Operator for Confection, its 2018/19 season commission with Third Rail Projects from February 18 to March 23, 2019. Our production is an immersive theater piece that will take place in multiple spaces in the Folger Shakespeare Library.

This is a temporary hourly staff position that begins with tech week for the production.

Duties include: running a combination of light and sound boards during rehearsals and performances of the production; relaying information about Folger inventory and hanging locations to the Lighting Designer (LD) and Sound Designer (SD); Working with the LD, Master Electrician, SD, and Production Manager (PM) to realize the vision of the designs while staying within the prescribed budget; working with the PM to implement safe hanging and installation practices; hang, focus, and strike of the lighting and sound elements; daily set up and take down of technical elements involved in the production; and other duties assigned.

The Board Op will: communicate with the LD, SD and PM during tech and previews to schedule implementation of all work notes and adds around the tech schedule; attend post tech/preview production meetings as needed; maintain necessary paperwork for the LD and SD and provide current copies to the PM; work with the PM for any special lighting needs (i.e. houselights, sign interpretation light, backstage lights); and work with the SM and PM to establish a working checklist/run list to follow when the show is up and running in order to maintain the integrity of the design.

A successful candidate will be self-starting, detail-oriented, and have theater industry experience. Knowledge of ETC consoles a plus. This position reports to Production Manager and is an exciting opportunity for team player to invest in a dynamic company.
