Job Title: Director of Operations
Status: Full-Time, Exempt
Reports to: Executive Director/Producer

This position will be responsible for the smooth and efficient business operations of the organization, including personnel and finance. The Director of Operations reports to the Executive Director/ Producer.

The Director of Operations plays a central role in shaping MTWs unique workplace culture, working closely with the Executive Director/Producer to develop a cohesive vision for value-centric change and challenging and improving institutional practices. The Director of Operations supervises the MTW staff, not including production staff and performers. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: interview, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing employee work; appraising employee performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; budgeting and planning, resolving patron complaints. The Director of Operations carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with MTW policies and procedures and applicable laws. The ideal candidate will share the institutional values of equity, diversity and inclusion, having previously demonstrated commitment to those values and will possess understanding and self-awareness of power and privilege.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Work with Bookkeeper to prepare monthly financial statements and present to the Boards Finance Committee
Oversee annual audit in conjunction with Executive Director/Producer, Bookkeeper and outside audit firm
Maintain monthly Cash Flow and oversee bank account reconciliation
Approve and code all bills for Bookkeeper and oversee and reconcile all credit card expenditures
Prepare and manage annual Organizational Budget
Work with Donor Relations + Special Events Coordinator on budgets and financial reports for funders
Work with Bookkeeping + Staff to ensure efficiency and accuracy of primary software programs and databases: Quickbooks and Total Info

HR/Personnel Support
Build and maintain positive relationships with employees and serve as conduit for communications within company
Model and support the mission and values of MTW
Work with HR consultant and Executive Director/Producer on hiring and personnel related policies, staff trainings, annual performance reviews, and organizational culture
Influence and drive key hiring decisions, and provide hiring assistance to managers when requested
Collaborate with HR Consultant to develop templates for contracts used by staff
Manage all large contracts (play licensing, co-productions, commissions, etc.)
Provide onsite support for employees, assisting HR consultant in conflict resolution and mediation options
Work with Bookkeeper in maintaining accurate records of vacation and sick days and any unemployment claims

Work with Administrator to ensure smooth internal operations through proactive collaborative management
Work with Administrator and help with decision-making for facilities and IT maintenance and improvement
Strategize with Executive Director and MTW Board on longer-term capital needs and projects
Work with Administrator and Insurance broker to maintain all policies including General Liability, Workers Compensation, D+O Insurance, etc.
Along with Administrator develop, implement and manage companys workers compensation program.

Other Duties
Facilitate weekly staff meetings
Participate in Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) Workgroup
Participate in field-building activities, both locally and nationally, especially around EDI issues

Preferred Qualifications

You are an ideal candidate if you possess:

A willingness to embrace and further MTWs commitment to Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI)
Experience in arts administration and/or non-profit accounting
Comfort with creating, maintaining and navigating databases
Excellent project management and time management skills
Excellent attention to detail
The ability to collect and redirect information across the institution to increase efficiency and collaboration
The ability to maintain diplomacy, discretion and/or confidentiality when handling sensitive information
The ability to model positive communications and behavior working with staff and Board from diverse backgrounds
Experience with financial software (Quickbooks) is helpful but not required

Special Environmental Factors

Fast-paced, open office environment, frequent interruptions, background noise.

Reports to: Executive Director/Producer

Supervises: All staff with the exception of artistic staff for the individual shows
