$50,000-$55,000 annually

Reporting to the Production Manager and Associate Artistic Director, Technical Director (TD) will lead the scenic department. The TD will build, and maintain sets for each production. S/he will estimate the expense of time, labor and materials to execute set designs; and supervise and guide all scene shop employees in the construction of the sets. S/he will complete set builds within budget, and operate and maintain correct and safe rigging of all movable scenery. The Technical Director will maintain a safe and sanitary work environment and, above all, will achieve the artistic goal of ABT and the Scenic Designer.

With commitment to the artistic integrity of Arizona Broadway Theatre, the Technical Director will play an integral part within the production department. S/he must be excellent at managing time and priorities while completing the core responsibilities of this key position which include, but are not limited to:

*Participate in the pre-production planning as it pertains to all elements of the scenic design.
*Monitor budget status as build is progressing to ensure build is completed within budget.
*Maintain all aspects of the scene shop including equipment, tools, crew safety and inventory of materials.

*Work with Artistic Producer, Production Manager and any guest directors on the design of the set and scenic concept.
*Estimate the expense of time, labor and materials to build proposed set and report to Production Manager.
*Oversee production of the set through the technical/dress rehearsal process.
*Order and pick up construction materials.
*Plan, build and test special effects.
*Oversee maintenance of all technical aspects during the run of the production.
*Work with directors, artists and Stage Manager as necessary.

*Hire, train and supervise shop crew during set builds.
*Review time records to submit to payroll

The Technical Director will be a strategic, results-oriented leader committed to the integrity of ABT products. The TD can willingly adapt to changing assignments as required in a dynamic, collaborative, fast moving workplace. S/he will be one who is capable of meeting deadlines and has the ability to listen, observe, react, collaborate, and effortlessly incorporate new information. A good sense of humor is an asset!
The selected candidate will also demonstrate the following proficiencies:
-The capacity to be answerable for personal actions; set self-boundaries and take responsibility for him/herself and those s/he leads.
-CAD and manual drafting, carpentry, welding, rigging, scenic construction techniques and production scheduling.
-Strong organizational, technical, supervisory, and communication skills.
