This position coordinates and supervises the maintenance, installation and operation of lighting and sound equipment for the School of Theatre Arts (SoTA). Supervises, coordinates and trains students of varying skill levels on the safe operation of lighting and sound equipment in the laboratory and production settings. This position actively promotes safe working habits and practices as is appropriate to the production setting. Also monitors the hours and progress of students enrolled in THEA 105y and THEA 106y, manages the lighting and sound budgets and technical resources, collaborates with students, production staff, faculty and guest artists to effectively execute lighting and sound designs and manages the day-to-day operations of the light and sound area which includes scheduling, training and supervising student workers; coordinating and conducting production activities (i.e. hang and focus calls); maintaining equipment and infrastructure, some purchasing and some additional duties. A bachelor's degree is required with a minimum of 1 year of related work experience and 1 year of management experience. Must possess basic understanding of fundamental concepts, practices and procedures and be able to apply that information in varied situations. Physical demands include heavy lifting, carrying, excessive standing and walking.
