A fast growing, full service scene shop is seeking a Project Manager with experience planning, building and managing scenery construction for corporate events, trade shows, special events, television, film, fashion, and retail.



JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary/Objective

The Project Manager is completely responsible for multiple scenic construction projects from inception to completion.

Essential Functions



I) PROJECT PLANNING

a) Receive project outline from President

b) Prepare job timeline with the Project Manager Checklist and obtain approval from Sr. Project Manager

c) Establish materials list for purchasing using the project bid to remain on budget and obtain approval from Sr. Project Manager

d) Plan job schedule complete with daily and weekly goals and obtain approval from Sr. Project Manager

e) Communicate approved job schedule to Project Coordinator to establish crew requirements

f) Confirm details with client or clients representative

g) Create necessary working drawings and obtain approval from Sr. Project Manager

h) Establish preliminary trucking requirements and communicate to Purchasing and Logistics Manager

i) Establish preliminary load list and communicate to Warehouse Manager



II) MANAGE PROJECT

a) Ongoing communication with client

b) Prepare material list for purchasing

c) Communicate with Production Manager + Lead Carpenter to make sure all aspects of the job are understood

i) Detailed plans and drawings

ii) Schedule

iii) Labor Allocations

d) Monitor labor hours daily to ensure project is on schedule and goals are being met, take action accordingly

e) Send routing files and instructions to CNC department and Cc: Production Manager

f) Review with President any potential change orders from client

g) Establish and monitor quality control



III) MANAGE LOAD IN AND STRIKE

a) Finalize truck requirements

b) Prepare truck pack

c) Maintain load list

d) Finalize load in and strike packing list

e) Prepare Fire Certificate information

f) Communicate with Crew Chief

i) Provide a complete set of drawings

ii) Review entire job with Crew Chief

iii) Monitor load in progress

iv) Communicate with Crew Chief throughout



IV) POST EVENT

a) Determine and communicate set disposition

i) Set disposal

ii) Set storage

iii) Rental Returns

b) Review material list to ensure completeness

c) Review final billing with invoicing

d) Client satisfaction survey

This position manages the Shop Foreman and Associate Project Manager.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit for extended periods of time, stand and walk; The employee must be able to use hands to manipulate, handle or feel; and can reach with hands and arms.

This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time salaried position, typical hours of work Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm, however this position will require longer hours and weekend work if needed, to get assigned jobs done on time.

Travel

Some travel is expected for this position.

Required Education and Experience

Bachelors degree or equivalent.
Previous work-related skills, knowledge, or experience is required.
