JOES PARADISE is a new comedy about a rural bikini bar that gets turned upside down after the owner dies and leaves it to his estranged gay son. The play is a heart-felt and humorous look at the lives and loves of exotic dancers from their point of view, challenging the traditional stereotypes of strippers, and revealing the true character behind the sexy image. As the dancers unite to save Joes Paradise, they become a kind of surrogate family in the process. Over the course of the play, they evolve emotionally and spiritually, as they learn to deal with lifes challenges, becoming self-empowered as women along the way.
This is an AEA showcase as part of the developmental process on the way to a full Off- Broadway or Broadway production. In the event that this Code production is immediately converted to a contract production Producer will make bona fide offers, or payments in lieu thereof equal to 5 weeks deferred Equity scale salary if they do not end up moving with the show to Off Broadway or Broadway.
