Audio Shop Technician

The New York office of Frost Productions is seeking a highly motivated and dynamic Audio Shop Technician based in the Tri-state area (New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut).

This is a full-time hourly position with benefits.

This person will be responsible for quality control and coordinating all audio gear movements at the Frost warehouse. This position will be directly responsible for maintaining an accurate equipment inventory, checking in/out all audio gear and performing basic troubleshooting and preventative maintenance. While there may be opportunities for some local field work in the slow seasons, this is predominantly a warehouse position.

Position Responsibilities:
Check in and out and pull all audio gear as per pull sheets in coordination with the Audio Services Manager and the Warehouse staff
Maintain a clean, neat, functional, and organized workplace
Reset consoles, processors, comm. racks and all other gear to default settings upon check-in
Build and wire custom racks
Perform routine cleaning and preventative maintenance of all speakers, amplifiers, consoles, etc. as per maintenance schedule
Coordinate and liaise all audio repairs with appropriate maintenance vendors
Perform regular inventory control of all audio equipment
Replenish and maintain all adapter kits, cable trunks, work boxes, etc. regularly
Coordinate all gear that is turned around directly from job to job and properly communicate the details to the warehouse and involved field crews.

Position Requirements:
Minimum 3 years experience handling professional audio equipment
Knowledge of line array systems and typical associated hardware specifically JBL, L Acoustics, and Martin Audio
Knowledge of DiGiCo, Yamaha, Soundcraft, and Midas digital audio consoles
Possess a basic understanding of computer networks and the ability to network audio equipment
Knowledge of networked audio, specifically Dante
Knowledge of Clearcom and RTS intercom systems
Ability to test, troubleshoot, and perform simple repairs in audio equipment
Ability to work long shifts including some nights and weekends


Preferred Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED (Bachelors degree in an audio related field preferred)
Prior warehouse experience
Knowledge of Shure wireless systems
Knowledge of MS Office: Outlook, Access
Dynamic and proactive personality with high attention to detail
Ability to handle a fast-paced environment and stay calm and focused under stress
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision on various projects simultaneously
