ACTLab Technical Associate

Department: Production
Reports to: Stage Operations Supervisor
Classification: Full-Time, Hourly, Seasonal. Non-Exempt
PREFERRED START DATE: August 20, 2018

Summary: The ACTLab Technical Associate collaborates with the ACTLab Producing Coordinator, Production, and Operations Departments to plan and manage the technical needs of ACTLab Productions, External Event Rentals, and Internal ACT Events. This position operates under the Collective Bargaining Agreement with IATSE Local 15, 488, and 887

Key Responsibilities:

In conjunction with ACTLab Producing Coordinator and Stage Operations Supervisor, coordinate all logistics associated with the load-in, run and load-out of scenery, props, lighting, and sound for ACTLab Productions. Make sure all staffing needs are filled, coordinating with Dispatch as necessary.
Serve as supervising technician for most ACTLab Productions.
Maintain and organize production equipment in cooperation with stage operations department.
Maintain accurate inventory records in cooperation with stage operations department.
Attend planning/scheduling meetings, production meetings and rehearsals as needed.
Review lighting and sound plots for ACTlab productions and events. Review inventory and staffing needs for ACTlab productions and events.
In conjunction with ACTLab Producing Coordinator, advance communications with ACTLab partners about the venue and advise on technical utilization of the space.
Meet new IATSE overhire at top of call and provide introduction to the space and equipment.
Coordinate with Master Sound Engineer and Master Electrician when ACTlab productions and events need access to shared and dedicated Mainstage inventory.
Experience:

3 years professional theatrical experience

Skills:

Strong organizational and time management skills. Proven ability to effectively manage multiple priorities.
Strong interpersonal skills. Ability to effectively communicate, orally and in writing.
Supervisory experience in theatrical production setting. Strong leadership skills.
Broad basic knowledge in all aspects of technical theatre
QLab, ETC Express and EOS family programming experience
Installing and operating live PA w/ analogue and digital consoles for theatrical use and live bands
Ability to lift and maneuver 50 lbs. repeatedly, alone or with assistance
Must be able to work evenings and weekends.
Experience using VectorworksCAD a plus.
Experience with general rigging principles and demonstrated ability to rig safely
