Flat Rock Playhouse a non-profit professional theatre located near Asheville, in Western North Carolina, that annually produces a season of Plays, Musicals, and Concerts are seeking a Head of Audio. This is a full-time position with benefits. We are looking to fill this position mid November.

Job Title: Head of Audio

Department: Sound

Reports to (Position): Production Manager

SUMMARY: The Sound Supervisor is responsible for the safe, efficient and accurate implementation of sound designs. This position serves as the Sound Designer for productions as required.

Work with PM to Hire all sound staff
With PM develop and oversee annual/show budgets
Oversee Load-In and Strike of sound
Participate in long range planning to serve equipment and facility needs of department
Oversee preparation of plots, hookups and other documents
With Department Heads coordinate design and monitor construction/implementation with regards impact to sound
Manage storage and inventory of all tools, equipment and expendables
Create cost estimates on all shows prior to execution
Work directly with creative and production staff to establish priorities
Attend all technical rehearsals and production meetings
Mix FOH as required
Maintain clean and safe workspaces

Minimum Bachelors Degree in related field or equivalent experience
Minimum 5-7 years experience in theatrical sound

Advanced skills and knowledge in/of all types of modern theatrical sound equipment including but not limited to, Yamaha digital sound consoles, analog audio consoles, Aviom self mixers, Shure and Lectrosonic wireless, DPA and Countryman lavalier microphones, CCTV systems, 70 volt for paging and monitoring, Clear Com and wireless com, and digital keyboards, synths, and virtual instrument programming
Must be able to demonstrate skills in Broadway style line mixing and script set up.
Proficiency in Mac OSX, Qlab, Mainstage, DME Designer, etc.
Networking. Skills in Dante a plus.
Skills in RF coordination, monitoring, and software such as Wireless Workbench, IAS, Vantage, etc.
Hi competency of recording techniques and digital audio workstations.
Microphone rigging and placement for actors.
Skills in MIDI and OSC for show control.
Soldering and basic electronic repair. The ability to re-terminate TA-4 and TA-5 a plus.
Previous experience and knowledge of D+B equipment is a plus.
Rigging knowledge and experience
SMAART knowledge a plus.
Proven supervisory skills and leadership ability
Ability to work within tight deadlines and budgets
Experience in creating and monitoring budgets
