About the Department
Valley Performing Arts Center (VPAC) includes two venues, a 500-seat auditorium, and the new 1700-seat state of the art proscenium theater/concert hall. VPAC presents about 50 performances per year of world-class artists of all genres and disciplines. Located in the nation's second largest market, Los Angeles, VPAC operates at the highest level of professional and artistic excellence.

Major Duties
Under general supervision, the VPAC Facilities Supervisor is responsible for oversight of one of the most prominent facilities on the CSUN campus. The incumbent acts as a liaison with Physical Plant Management (PPM), contractors and University Student Union (USU) management to assure VPAC and Plaza de Sol Performance Hall building HVAC, electrical, plumbing, custodial and grounds are properly maintained, upgraded and serviced to ensure high level service for all campus and public events and performances; communicates to concerned campus groups all necessary advance information regarding event programming and scheduling, to allow those groups to effectively plan required work and manage staffing levels; meets with external rental clients, campus event representatives and other third-party clients, offering facility related technical information and event logistical support; initiates and/or coordinates any remodel or construction projects, from design through completion. Consults with CSUN upper management, campus architect, Facilities Planning Director and project managers, outside contractors, State Fire Marshal and others; reviews and prepares project budgets, determines most effective work plan, supervises work and ensures that all work meets VPACs high architectural standards; creates a lucrative working relationship with the USU licensing through the use of VPAC as a premier filming and photo-shoot location; ensures filming production is managed in manner that meets important VPAC revenue goals; works in concert with stage technical production staff to ensure that building systems support production needs and do not interfere or conflict with production activities; monitors building security systems, including video surveillance, fire alarms and electronic locks; recommends and coordinates any necessary service work throughout the appropriate campus unit; acts as VPAC representative in planning and evaluation of all event security operations, and as liaison with the campus; completes and maintains VPAC Emergency Action Plan and acts as senior Building Marshal in all disaster and emergency evacuation planning. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university in a job-related field required. Equivalent to five years of full-time, progressively responsible relevant experience. Oversight and administration of a program with supervision and/or lead experience.

Knowledge, Skills, + Abilities
Thorough knowledge of general practices, program, and/or administrative specialty, and operational and fiscal analysis and techniques. Advanced knowledge of policies, procedures, and outside regulations pertaining to Facilities, Performing Arts, and Production Services. Ability and specialized skills to: take initiative and independently plan, organize, coordinate, and perform work in various situations where numerous and diverse demands are involved; expertise in investigating and analyzing problems with a broad administrative impact and implications; ability to train others and provide lead work direction; interpret, and apply a wide variety of policies and procedures to develop conclusions and make recommendations; analyze data and make accurate projections using business mathematics and basic statistics; communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

Pay, Benefits, + Work Schedule
The university offers an excellent benefits package.

The salary range for this classification is: $4693 - $7769 per month.
The anticipated HIRING RANGE: $4693 - $6200, dependent upon qualifications and experience.

HOURS: Full Time; 40 hours per week; will include evenings and weekends.

REG: This is a Regular position with a one-year probationary period.
