The College of Performing Arts at The New School seeks a mature, well organized, service-oriented self-starter to support the Manager of Technical Services for the College of Performing Arts. This is a part-time, (20-27 hour per week), 40 weeks a year position, including weekend hours and evenings. This part-time position will serve as an extension of Technical Services department for much needed support during peak night and weekend times.

Reporting directly to the Technical Manager, this person will supervise and facilitate technical support for all evening and weekend operations for concerts and events produced by CoPA. This person will work with the House Manager / Night Manager and other production managers on nights and weekends.

This person will work with the House Manager / Night Manager and other production managers on nights and weekends.

Responsibilities include:
- Act as main technical lead for nighttime and weekend operations, serving as an extension of the Manager of Technical Services operation for nights and weekends
- Supervise student assistants and audio engineer employees
- Manage budget for evening temporary workers throughout semester to support concert operations
- Manage special projects or events for Jazz and CoPA
- Work with staff and faculty to facilitate classroom scheduling and equipment needs
- Serve as main facilitator for evening ensemble classroom support
- Implement stage plots and input lists to accurately set up and run events/concerts
- Lead and supervise live sound and technical support for multiple CoPA ensembles rehearsing/performing in the evening
- Manage musical instruments and audio gear needs for classrooms and concert halls
- Troubleshooting academic classroom technology
- Assist Technical Manager with miscellaneous tasks related to production and academic needs
- Act as IT, Facilities and Security liaison for nights and weekends
- Serve as House Manager as needed; Fireguard F03 training will be required

Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum 2-3 years relevant production experience in a technical support role
- Music background and familiarity with musical instruments
- Ability to troubleshoot audio and video systems
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
- Experience working in a busy environment while also maintaining deadline(s), attention to detail, and accuracy
- Demonstrated proficiency with PC and Mac systems, iTunes, ProTools, Max MSP, Pure Data, Logic, QLab, Ableton Live, MS Word and Excel
- Experience working with audio and visual equipment including digital audio and lighting consoles.
- Ability to troubleshoot, take initiative, use independent judgment, and remain flexible
- A strong interest in working with college students, and sensitivity to the needs of a university population
- Regularly lift, move and cart musical instruments/equipment of variable sizes and weights
- Exceptional leadership + management skills, ability to navigate and diffuse challenging situations diplomatically. Interpersonal skills that allow the individual to function in a variety of settings among widely different groups of people
- Specific experience in concert, opera or theatre production required
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- The ability to work productively, graciously and with appropriate sense of humor under strict time constraints
- Flexibility, and a team player sensibility.
