South Coast Repertory is seeking a qualified automation technician to join its full time run crew for the 2018-2019 season. Primary responsibilities are acting as a member of the run crew for all SCR productions that require automation and functioning as stage carpenter for all shows in production. This position generally spends roughly 3/4 of the time installing and running shows, 1/4 in the scene shop. Additional duties will include set construction, load-ins, maintenance and strikes, and acting as deck crew for some non-automated productions. Must have experience programming and operating scenic automation systems (Creative Connors experience is a plus) and solid carpentry skills; knowledge of rigging, electrics and/or stage management are also a plus. General requirements include applicable training or equivalent professional experience in the field, being comfortable working at height, ability to lift 50 pounds, and strong communication and collaborative skills. This is a seasonal, full time, 49 week contract that this year will run from July 9, 2018 through June16, 2019. It is a non-exempt, overtime-eligible position.
