The Department of Theatre, Drama, and Contemporary Dance at Indiana University-Bloomington is seeking qualified applicants for its three-year graduate MFA scenic design program beginning August 2018. The rigorous scenic design program at Indiana University includes intensive theoretical coursework combined with practical application of produced scenic designs on the department's season. The program offers individualized instruction, one-on-one mentoring, and personalized guidance of the candidate's developing professional design aesthetic. Current design-thinking and contemporary tools of visual communication are emphasized. Upon completion, graduates will have a diverse portfolio of realized designs, highly developed research, collaborative and communication skills, a mature professional process, production leadership experience and a rich understanding of the breadth and depth of scenic design. A two-week London study-abroad program, as well as production and design opportunities are available for MFA candidates during the summers. MFA candidates receive a graduate assistantship during the three years of study which includes a stipend of at least $15,750 per year, full tuition waiver, partial fee remission, and health insurance including dental.
